This is the first restaurant I've visited while being back in the US, and I wasn't disappointed. The fish in the sandwich was twice as big as the bun!Great people, great location, and great food.I think the only thing I would change would be to add some made in hause sauces for the food.Overall great experience.Parking: There is plenty of parking on site.

We visit the York Beach area one to two times a year. This trip was our first visit to The York River Landing. The service and atmosphere was great, however our lobster rolls were not. Did not appear fresh and they were basically tasteless.

Special circumstances had us arriving about 15 minutes before you closed. We walked in and people were still dining. It took a few minutes to be greeted, 2 employees were sitting on their phones. In the room in front of us.Either you’re open or you’re closed, am I wrong? The waitress made a big deal about it being 7:50, she checked with the kitchen, to make sure they were still open. We heard a cook in the kitchen as he announced there was an 2 top sitting down and that we promised to be quick. Which we didn’t promise-when she came back out of the kitchen, she took our order in the lobby, told us to be quick and then the manager came out of nowhere and sat us.While the waitress was still holding our plates, she was about to put them down and she asked if she could bring us the check. She told us the manager wanted to get her paperwork done. She never checked on us!7:45 is not ideal when you close at 8, I do know this. We paid the check, immediately because we were asked to. We ate our dinner quickly.I’m under the impression that most service staff pretend like it’s no big deal when guests walk in close to closing time, probably because that’s the job and you’re still open. We were back in the car by 8:22.In retrospect, we should have just left-what paying customer wants to be treated like dirt?!? Our server was rude and tactless. She acted like we were being rude for dining in an open restaurant. She was the rude one, not us. If you can’t accommodate what’s promised, then change the hours, or the staff. We spent way too much money for this type of treatment. My Dad was in town quickly, I was hoping to spend a little time with him and have something nice to eat.My Dad asked her if she had kids at home and if that was why she was rushing us-in order to get home to them. She said “no!” the manager wants to get her paperwork done early. It’s probably true, and that’s fine. Why would you tell that to people sitting at your table? Exactly, to make them feel bad! Why would you make people feel bad when you work on tips? The sign on the door should have said after 7, go somewhere else.Returning seems unlikely. The whole thing was uncomfortable and embarrassing for us.The waitress was basically complaining-she told us who was still in the restaurant including the bartender’s boyfriend. It felt like she was informing us we should not have come in so late. Why on earth would she tell us that. It was another way for her to inform us the open sign was wrong and we were not welcome.I wrote her a note on the credit card slip with way more tip than she deserved. She approached me on the way out to say she wasn’t complaining. If she hadn’t approached me, I would not be writing this review. We would have rather she checked on us and our dinners, then chasing us out the door because in her opinion we were wrong.Who treats people like they’re an inconvenience and then stops them to argue about it after they’ve written a note to let you know they picked up on it too. If I had wanted to discuss it, then I wouldn’t have written a note, I would have said something. that’s basic logic and the fact that the waitress didn’t understand that is not surprising, but it is odd behavior-consistent with being rude and selfish, I guess. This obviously was a giant waste of time for all of us. We made a giant mistake about where we went to dinner but thanks to our waitress-we will never make that mistake again!

Unfortunately, the food quality as plummeted. For such an incredible location and great community, I would not recommend eating there. Kids and I love the idea of going but this time, the scallops were bottom of the fryer with oily flavoe and appeared as tho they werent even scalloos. The boys haddock sandwich was paper thin and old looking, and the haddock and mashed potatoes looked synthetic and poorly prepared and plated. Wont go back for some time to eat anyway. I wish all the best for a fast turn around. Our neighbors sitting next to us had taco trio. They were half the size and look unhealthily thin with no tasty ingerdients to fill them out.
