Too pricey for me and my food was cold. $50 for breakfast is out of my league.

I'm a little mad at myself I've been going up to Alpena Michigan for 50 years of my life and I have never stepped foot into John boys. It's not that I avoided it it was because most of the time my family made breakfast for me but as my family is grown smaller and things change I expand my horizons. I had to go into town to do some running around in the morning so decided to go to John Boy's for breakfast since I'd never been there. What a nice little place with very friendly staff. They make you feel welcome right from when you walk into the door to you're done with your meal. I ordered the country omelette and was very pleased , I normally like to try the sausage gravy wherever I go to see how compares to other places and I would say their sausage gravy ranks in my top 10. The price is about average of what I would expect to pay incomparable to other places I have been to that's not in the area or state. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a quaint hometown breakfast, or lunch, Diner to check John boys out I do not believe you'll be disappointed

The owner's wife is an artist. So in addition to a fine breakfast I took home a beautiful painting that caught my eye!

Wanted to stop at a mom & pop place. This place fits the bill. The gentleman took our order, brought our drinks and the burgers and onion rings were out less than 10 min later. The onion rings were on point! Crispy and delicious. The burgers were juicy and flavorful. Would recommend and will definitely be back. 😋

A small place with really good food. We were looking for a local restaurant away from the fast food places. This really hit the spot. Very "local" restaurant with a lot of repeat business. We had a burger (just like home) and a very good reuben. Staff was great. Very reasonable pricing. Thanks.

Absolutely wonderful breakfast! The sausage gravy has an amazing flavor I don’t usually see. Link sausage was absolutely wonderful. You’ll never see the bottom of your coffee cup.

Food was good. No complaints really. Nothing special but nothing bad Lol. We had eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, hashbrowns, all cooked well. Place is older but clean. Waitress never spoke much, basic took our order and dropped food at table..ask once if everything was OK.

Ordered a fish dinner for lunch. Was pretty good! Came with choice of potatoes and cole slaw or cottage cheese. I chose Cole slaw and fries was pleasantly surprised that it also came with corn and garlic bread. It also came with plenty of Tartar sauce, whipped garlic butter and I asked for ranch and wasn't charged extra. I was given enough food for my toddler and I to eat our fill and there was enough leftover for my 2 teenagers to have a snack after school. Will definitely order again. The Cole slaw was awesome as well not at all goopy like most house Cole slaws.

Awesome service, delicious food and clean. This establishment is everything you’d expect from an All-American diner. It’s an older business but everything was tidy and the bathrooms were clean. We highly recommend the cinnamon roll for dessert. The homemade frosting amazing 🤩, it’s sliced in half and toasted. So delicious 😋. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
