Went to Ahmo's today for a regular gyro to go. They weren't busy at 2 PM on a Tuesday. Waited only 2 minutes or so. The gyro was excellent. The tomatoes were ripe and fresh. The lamb and beef were perfect. I'll be returning to the Stone School Rd location for another gyro soon.

It's been a few years since I went here last, so we ordered takeout. My first impression when I opened the door was that the door handle was sticky as if it had never been washed before. It was not a big deal, but I went to the bathroom immediately to wash my hands. The handle to the bathroom door was also sticky, oddly enough. We ordered, and the staff seemed fine, but the person at the front counter was very quiet. While waiting for food to come out, we sat at a table, and the table and chairs were sticky, too! We gathered our order and began to eat when we got home. I ordered a gyro bowl, and it was very small for the price. We also ordered a chicken shwarma plate, which was a much more reasonable serving size. The food was extremely oily, to the point that my lips were covered in oil after 2 bites of rice. The vegetables seemed like they were purposely cooked, but if that's the case, they were severely undercooked; I would have rather them be raw. The gyro meat was oily but okay, and the pita was good. Overall, I wouldn't come back to Ahmo's until they cleaned their restaurant and figured out the oily food issue. I think there are better options in Ann Arbor especially for the price.

I was very disappointed in the chicken gyro I ordered today. $15.95 for a gyro, fries and a drink and the chicken in my gyro was completely gray. No charred or grilled look at all. Definitely unappealing to look at (boiled maybe) . I picked most of it out. Won't be returning. Gave it two stars instead of one because the fries were great and so was the pita.

Yesterday, I had a craving for gyros. I looked online around 8:30 PM, but every place that sells them was already closed — except Amhos. I called while on my way back from Westland (I live in Ypsilanti). It was 8:36 PM, and I knew they closed at 9. The employee who answered asked if I could be there in 10 minutes. I said no, but I’d definitely be there before closing. He sounded annoyed but said fine.

I placed an order for two gyro combos, which came with two drinks. When I arrived, he handed me the food, but never mentioned the drinks — no “don’t forget your drinks” or anything. I ended up having to go back inside to get them. I grabbed a Dr. Pepper and a Diet Coke. When I got home, I noticed the Diet Coke had Santa on it — it was clearly old and expired in January 2025.
Then I realized there was no tzatziki sauce in the bag — which is basically the whole point of a gyro. I was frustrated. They were already closed, so I called the next day and happened to speak with the same guy. He barely let me talk and just said, “Next time, I’ll give you two sauces.” I told him that wasn’t enough — the meal was ruined. He sarcastically replied, “Okay, fine, I’ll give you two dollars then.” No apology, no accountability.

I said I felt like they should replace the order since the sauce is the main part of the sandwich. He flat-out refused and acted like I was asking for too much. Between the expired drink, the missing sauce, and his rude attitude, I won’t be going back. Amhos just lost a customer.

Pleasant place to dine with a large selection of drinks and meals. Portion was generously large. I ordered an original gyro, walnut baklava, and a xing tea. The gyro was good, but it came with little veggies and the meat was very thick cut. Adding some fresh sliced cucumber would have made it much better. I'll request to add some next time. The baklava tasted amazing and was extra flakey, but a little dry. Not 100% perfect, but the place is pretty nice and I will dine again in the future.

20 bucks for Gyro and fries. The fries were awesome. I asked for double meat and it came to 20 bucks. It was pretty steep. The meat was all dried out and the pita bread was pretty hard on one side I wasn’t impressed for 20 bucks.

Nearly $20 for a gyro and fries drink combo. Gyro was full of pan cooked dry chicken and I got 3 thin strips of gyro meat on it. Paid 6 dollars more for the equivalent of a small fry. Sauce is tasteless, One of the smallest most disappointing gyros I have ever had. No idea how they have a 4.2 rating.
