A fantastic little resturant with a Salvadoran history. I can not stop looking around at all the decor, most of which is for sale! Well, clarification, I could not stop looking around until the food came. This was my first experience with a Salvadoran Tamale. A very flavorful, and fully loaded, tamale. The Plantains were also phenomenal! And some Rice Pudding for dessert! Such a delicious and satisfying meal! The family owned business is also very active in the community around...
Pilar’s is a cozy, family-like place, and Silvia is incredibly gracious on top of the great food. We had an after-hours family gathering, and she arranged everything perfectly, serving both food and drinks with care.
The decorations and crafts on display are beautiful, and each piece seems to have its own story—it’s worth taking the time to truly appreciate them.

Eating at Pilar’s is like eating at a friend’s home. The restaurant is small, but cozy with thoughtful decor. Silvia and Espy are always there, serving dishes with a smile. The tamales are always excellent. Pilar’s is one of those places that truly makes Ann Arbor special. True local gem!!
