This used to be my favorite restaurant. They've made changes and it's not nearly as good. My favorite appetizer was the bruschetta. It had a very flavorful pesto and toasted pieces of garlic. The last time I ordered it, it was described as Earle bread rubbed with garlic. The garlic flavor was non-existent. The pesto was different and lacking flavor as well. My partner's favorite appetizer was the fried eggplant. It had a very tasty Italian bread crumb shell. Now it's grilled with very little flavor if any at all. They took away my favorite entree from the menu, veal marsala. It used to have a rich marsala cream sauce. Now it's deglazed with marsala wine and lemon. It has half of the rich flavor it used to. They will make it the old way if I ask. I would come here weekly with friends and or family but now it's every other month if that.

Warm and inviting underground space with live music and classic Provençal country cuisine. Amazing wine list!

We enjoyed a quiet meal. The eggplant appetizer, onion soup, and scallops were fabulous! The live guitarist provided lovely background music. Prices were in line with other upscale restaurants in town. Overall, we absolutely enjoy the Earle every time we go.

Apps were great but overpriced for serving size. Entrées were well below-avg food quality. Seating was disappointing - no access to live entertainment. A shame; this time last year we really enjoyed the restaurant.

Yes, it is downstairs. Civilized. Bartenders have always been very good. Nice jazz trio till after 9p.

We love coming here on Tuesdays for Service Industry Night. The food is some of the best in Ann Arbor in my opinion. All the appetizers we've tried have been fantastic but my favorites are the eggplant, the crab cakes, and the bruschetta. The pasta dish we got had the most amazing beschamel sauce, and their fresh bread and butter is to die for. Service is always wonderful. We will definitely be back

I wanted to highlight the exceptional service I received at the Earle from Ricardo, who was very attentive, and more importantly, extremely patience as my birthday dinner reservation dwindled to a much smaller number gathering for just cocktails and drinks. He checked in on us and kept our water refilled while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive, and was so understanding when we let him know we wouldn’t be staying for dinner. I also appreciate that he checked to see if the bar could make a “b and b” (Benedictine and brandy), which my father asked about several times, then decided not to order in the end.

The wine was delicious, with something for everything in our group and the appetizers were top-notch! I highly recommend the bruschetta if you are a garlic girly like me. As always, the atmosphere at the Earle did not disappoint; this place is old school cool Ann Arbor in the BEST way.

Thank you to Ricardo and the Earle for making my birthday dinner fiasco into a night that actually wasn’t a fiasco at all!

Chef Jason Buquet, you are a GENIUS!!!

Last night my husband and I dined at The Earle and spent a fortune (with drinks, wine, appetizer, soup, salad, entrees and dessert) - but I have NEVER had a better meal in my life and I wanted to let you and everyone else know…

We started with the calamari, and though the accompanying sauce was a little garlicky for me - my Italian husband adored it.

Next, we split your watermelon gazpacho soup and a Caesar salad - both were delicious.

My husband followed this up with the veal marsala which was excellent and had a nice portion of orzo and roasted asparagus to accompany it. I had the linguine with shrimp… wow! Such a simple name for such an INCREDIBLE FLAVOR BOMB!

Now I have heard of Calabrian peppers (I watch a lot of Bobby Flay), but I have never had them in a dish, and certainly not in a dish like this. The blend of mint, cheese, tomatoes, peppers, garlic (light - at my request) , and pistachios was INCREDIBLE!!! I am salivating just thinking about it now and I wish I had been smart enough to take a picture for everyone - but alas I ate EVERY BIT!!!!

We finished our meal with your frozen souffle - which was good, but a little hard to eat.

That said, thanks for such a special meal - and thanks for such a special night!!

A new menu was very much appreciated and our entrees were excellent. An Ann Arbor favorite with the most extensive wine selection around.

Delicious food. Dinner choices were plentiful and there was a nice variety. Servers were very nice, friendly, efficient & prompt. Excellent service. Atmosphere was nice… in the basement of the building… made it a little dark for me but still clean and comfortable. Take a chance and try it out. :)
