Avoid unless you enjoy drinking out of glasses with scummy buildup you can scrape off with your fingernails

Never have I been treated so poorly. The owner and the manager do not belong in the hospitality industry. We were snapped at as we walked in, ignored when we sat down and then ordered our drink and paid for only to be told we have to leave. As we were walking out the door the manager was still clapping at us to leave. Do yourself a a favor and go anywhere else, you will be glad you did.

The bartender Marissa was very rude. I've never been the type to not tip someone especially in the service industry but from the moment I sat down to the moment I left I felt like she didn't want me there. She never greeted me. Didn't bring me silverware for my food until I almost had to scream excuse me when the people next to me knew for sure she heard me. She is not a pleasant person and should not be in the service industry especially because she doesn't seem to want to be in the service industry. And with this being a place where people come hungry she really should not wear clothing that shows her stomach sticking out further than her breast. My glass has been empty for 12 minutes now and she hasn't asked me if I would like a refil.

My friend who identifies as they was mistreated extremely poorly after being asked to be called by the correct pronoun. The owner and bouncer who seems like he is on steroids literally said “we don’t need people like you at our bar”. Obviously wouldn’t recommend a place ran by such disgusting humans.

Overpriced—my margarita was 18 dollars and there’s no prices on the cocktail menu. Crazy. And the nachos didn’t come with salsa or sour cream to put on them which made them pretty dry, especially the majority of the chips not on the top that didn’t have cheese on them.

***Disclaimer***This review is only for my experience with the OWNER(S).Where do I start? OK, I think I will start with initial meeting of the owner(s).October 25 at approximately 2:00 PM I met with the owner(s) who was going to conduct an interview with me. (Server application).*Side note*Before applying I did research on this place and read some reviews on Google Instagram and Facebook and they were all mixed.I brought up the fact that I read some reviews, to the owner during our interview and he was displeased. I mentioned how people seemed to not really care for the food and if that’s something that the restaurant had looked into or corrected or addressed, and the owner took offense and became offensive toward me. The owner began to berate me due to the valid questions I had been asking, especially being a prospective employee. The owner proceeded to tell me "you don't have a place to ask me if we got past kitchen issues or food issues" and that "I don't read reviews" and that "only miserable people write reviews" and that "opinions are like ? holes".After this owner made that set of statements, I knew that I would not be a good fit. You’re the owner of a restaurant and you don’t read or take your reviews seriously? ?. That probably would explain why by the owners admission he doesn't look at applications and that he has his wife do the paperwork on indeed and poses as "him" in the correspondence of indeed. (Which I will be reporting to indeed). The restaurant has been at it's location for 20 years, however has less than 200 reviews, enough said.

Located in the middle of a busy Birmingham street. Parking is important, the city loves to enforce street pay parking to the minute and garages can be pricey. Visually, the bar and pub looks great. Dark wood Irish and semi modern furniture. Great covered patio fronting the sidewalk with heaters. Good beer and liquor selection, rear bar for events to be leaving the front bar for normal customers. The bar stools look great, but have odd side ridges that mean they are only good for skinny people. The menu does not have prices, a real concern for some of the more traditionally expensive liquors available. I also got left at the bar after the initial service and it was hard to flag down another server-- they seem good at not meeting your eye.

Went around 4-5pm on a Saturday. Service, good, and beer were all great. Would recommend.

I've been here 4-5 times now and the experience is never the same. Sometimes I have good food, other times I haven't been able to finish my plate. The lamb burger I had was a crime against humanity, incredibly bland.Service has also been hit or miss. One time our service was very inattentive and too slow, another time they were quick and quite accurate. They do host quite a hefty tap list of about 30+, but alas only 2 dark beers and about 4 fruit/sours. The rest are IPAs.Much like the rest of Birmingham, I don't think the food justifies the price and there is little to no variety on the tap list. There are little-to-no gluten free, vegetarian, or vegan options.

I was here eating with my my girlfriend and our 9 year old sons after movie night. We were almost done eating our snacks at 9:30 when we were told by the owner, who I thought at the time was a manger, that it was getting late and we needed to leave with your kids. It's was fine to take our money for drinks and food at 9 pm when we ordered. I have been going to Dows and eating downtown since I have lived in Birmingham, 16 years now. I have never been treated so poorly. Do yourselves a favor and go anywhere else in downtown Birm but Dick O Dows, now Dows, it's over priced, bad food and the owner thinks he is above everyone!

The Dow is not what you would think for a "pub". It is way nicer/ they recently redid the back area and it's perfect for a Sunday game day. There are lots of TVs and beer options. The back area has high top tables as well as a couch area to lounge and enjoy bar food. The pretzel and dip were very yummy! The truffle fries were VERY fried but decent. I got the sliders plain and they were perfect. We would definitely return.
