My partner and I needed a place to stay while we were doing an art show in Charlevoix. We’d never been to Michigan before. The Blue Pelican exceeded every expectation we had and so much more. The room we stayed in was lovely- soft bed and pillows, everything was very clean, and the room was the perfect warmth for the time of year.We ended up eating at the restaurant downstairs for dinner two of the nights, and then breakfast on our last day. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS every time. The portion sizes were incredibly generous. The first night was fish and chips- the fish was battered beautifully and the chips had the most flavorful seasoning. The second night we got the Hawaiian pizza and fried pickles- again, incredible batter for the pickles and the pizza was that melty, cheesy perfection. And lastly, the biscuits and gravy- out of this world. So good. The sausage was flavorful and peppered just the right amount. The biscuits were soft and fluffy. The staff is what really blew us away. Everyone was so kind and attentive and generous. Our server Alix was incredible- even told us to take our time when we ordered late on Saturday night. AND gave us some fantastic local coffee shop recommendations. I saw and heard the manger Trisha compliment and thank every single one of the employees as the night wore down.Perfect stay, and I cannot recommend this inn and restaurant highly enough!

Restaurant takeout has been a mess the last few times we have ordered. Tonight we didn’t get an entire appetizer order and my husbands pizza sub was laughable. Barely any cheese, completely missing the sauce, and the size was disappointing. We spent good money on breakfast one weekend, picked it up, came home and was baffled that the eggs benedict meal came with one muffin and one egg, the portions of everything were extremely small, but that was very odd. Flavor was missing too, everything was pretty bland.

Service was not very good for a call in order, but the whitefish, green beans and fries were great. The brussel sprouts are also very good, but sadly they were out in this visit. We were not greeted when we entered and never saw a smile while interacting with either employee. A young man brought us to the bar and told us to wait there for someone else to help us. A few minutes later the bar tender came and helped usHe told me the total, gave me the receipts, told me to sign the top one and returned to his conversation as he turned away from us. They both seemed rushed, much more interested in their seated guests and spoke with us very little. It was more of a 'what do you want' kind of tone we received. No welcome, no thank you; it was actually very awkward leaving. I dined here a few weeks ago and thought the service was fine. Two very different experiences.

Tried their new pizza. If you like pizza you have to try the blue pelican.

We came here for dinner and had the fish fry and the steak. Both were delicious! Friendly staff. Did not stay at the Inn.

This was a last minute reservation. We literally called them on our way. We called to reserve because when we tried online it went through arbnb and they couldn't confirm. And it was $45 cheaper! The staff was the friendliest. There is a restaurant downstairs. There is food for breakfast in a fridge so the time doesn't matter. This was our 2nd stay. The rooms are gorgeous, not cramped. It is quiet, and anywhere you need to go is only a couple of blocks to walk.

Ate at Blue Pelican with a large group. Problems with one bill for everyone-didn’t come out right so some paid more than others. This “one bill for the group” took the fun out of our get together?
