Weve done their holiday buffet twice now, not impressed either time. For the price we paid i was very disappointed. It was very overcrowded, food was mediocre at best. Was quite the wait in buffet line and buffet options were pretty limited. One of our group almost broke their tooth on shat appeared to be a small stone in the salad. We were seated in front of the fire exit across from the bathroom so we smelled poop during our whole dinner. I ended up sicker than a dog within...read full review
I’ve always had a good experience there. It isn’t fast food. It’s a place to go where you can enjoy the salad bar before the entree. Usually 15-30 minutes until the main entree arrives. I worked there and unlike most restaurants it is a tight ship and clean. I enjoy dining there and have always had good service. Also the atmosphere is special with windows into nature. Dining and watching hummingbirds and even deer is special. The gardens and flowers are exquisite. A nice...read full review
We recently had a large family get together here. Our table was all set, so we were seated right away. IIma was our waitress and she was fantastic!! Everything she recommended was delicious. She was on top of everything, friendly, funny, great personality, she took care of all our needs. Best waitress ever! Everyone enjoyed their meals. Prime rib, Hawaiian chicken, shrimp scampi, kid’s meal. Salad bar had a nice assortment. It was hard to select a dessert, so many good choices....read full review

River Lake Inn Restaurant Gardens - Trails is a hidden gem in Michigan, offering a fine dining atmosphere with linen table clothes. The menu is short and sweet, frequently changed and made perfect by an authentic chef with homemade desserts and dressings. The food is always amazing, with perfectly cooked fish, steak, scallops, and walleye, though the Hawaiian chicken was below average and steaks could’ve been better. A highlight is the salad bar, included with the meal, featuring many homemade salads like coleslaw and potato salad. The beautiful view of the hummingbird sanctuary out of all the windows is gorgeous, and guests can watch hummingbirds and other wildlife while eating. The atmosphere is quiet, allowing for conversation, and the waitstaff is wonderful, with some servers having been there for over 8 years. This is a great place for a big gathering, like a family gathering after thanksgiving, with a reservation for 16. It is a favorite restaurant for many, and first-time visitors will not be disappointed.
