My son really cares about health and avoiding artificial food dyes. Detroit Water Ice offers many flavors with no artificial food dyes, so we got to try many of their offerings. It was really refreshing and tasty during the heat wave and the staff was quite friendly. Highly recommend!

Philly-style Italian ice meets Detroit soul. This truck brings refreshing, fruity relief with its bold vegan flavors and creamy vegan ice creams. The textures are authentic, and the nostalgia hits just right. A cooling standout for warm days.

Portions are huge (to me), the kiddie size is perfect. Very good and unique, good variety of flavors.
I love their community support and involvement.

This is the west gelato frozen whatever. It has no flavor. Save your money. The mango is terrible.

Do not go here! Overpriced very overpriced last year I paid $5 for a waffle cone soft serve this year they're charging $8 and not telling anybody. You tell me if it's worth it for two soft serve ice creams here's the receipt. I will never go back here again then they smile at you and say it's for charity like it's no big deal it's not their money. Buyer beware.

I love that the profits go back to the community. The Italian ice is just ok. The soft serve is better.

brownie points for being a nonprofit but very rude to anyone who isn’t their target audience. apparently i must have been under-dressed because i was told “we don’t give out free samples” as i was pulling out my wallet to pay.

Well, well, well! What can I say, but that the man and woman that were working were exceptionally polite and helpful. I felt welcomed and I hope to have another chance to visit again someday. Try the Motown Mash. Very sweet, thick, and if you love chocolate chips this treat is for you. Two people could probably share a medium. Great place!

I once saw a guy (teenager) on the cash register miscount a customer's change by $0.25 so the customer started yelling at him. The customer got one sentence out before a manager told the kid at the cash register to go to the back then she laid into the customer about bullying kids and his total lack of respect and humanity.

Ive gone back ~8 times after seeing that.

10/10, the staff has never been anything but patient, professional and friendly with me. And the water ice is great too. I like Tiger's blood.

The ice water selections are great, the waffles smelled good, the popcorn was trash, I purchased the butter pecan and it did not taste fresh at all. $11 for a small bag of popcorn I expected amazing. I have had Kara popcorn from the gas station for $2.50 and it tasted better and fresher. So let's just say I'm never buying popcorn from there again. But I'll come back for the ice cream.

Kid-friendliness: Stemville Detroit is right next door so it's a perfect pit stop before going home.

AH / Team at Detroit water ice has NOTTT been doing their job!! Where is the chocolate peanut butter ice at ?!??
It has not been available for some time now and i am verrry disappointed. Whenever I go to have a sweet treat that I am looking forward to, I get let down every time from the lack of preparation. Do better!!!

They served a large group of teens with no problems, everyone was happy

Shaved ice and flavored popcorn. Interesting combination but it works. The soft serve here is very good and creamy. We got the orange and vanilla soft serve to make a 50/50 bar, and some combination Carmel corn. The caramel nuts and pretzels were so good.

I was sceptical at first thinking this is just shaved ice or sorbet but it was better than expected. There are several different flavors to choose from and you can mix it with soft serve which was recommended to me.
This is a not for profit and they help local Detroit area organizations.
