BEWARE of this establishment!! I only left one star because it was required to click on something to leave the review!! We stopped in to Bert’s before the Lions game on 12/4. The bar area was full but we were only the second table to sit in the large room. Our waitress was extremely rude and just as incompetent. We ordered 5 simple drinks (bottles of ciders and beers) and 3 appetizers to share. She only brought 4 drinks originally and our food NEVER came. I asked her about it almost an hour later and she was the rudest server I have ever encountered. In the meantime, we had to go to the bar to get another drink because ours had sat bone dry for quite some time. Apparently, then, someone from the establishment helped themself to my husband’s debit card number and charged almost $500 at Home Depot the next morning. (This was definitely the only place he used his card and we live over an hour from Detroit)…I called the Bert’s phone number listed on google and it doesn’t even reach a business. After our arrival the place filled up and EVERYONE who came in after us (that was lucky enough to get the other server) got their food and refills promptly and in front of us. I understand being busy but DO NOT understand being rude and dishonest at all… To make it worse, my adult children were visiting from out of town and this was part of our Christmas celebration together. Very disappointing! If you are trying to have a good time with your family look elsewhere!!

Meka was so amazing and went out of her way to take care of everybody! She took it upon herself to stay open later than usual to take care of us patrons. She’s so cute, nice, and amazing! Customer service on 10! I can’t wait to come back and bring the team to get served by her 💯

In past years, Bert’s was the go-to for great soul food, but my last two recent visits have me saying never again. My friend and I ordered three different items off the menu, waited for our orders each time, only to be told the items were not available. I also ordered wine, which tasted old and the bartender never got my friend’s drink correct. Unfortunately, after waiting over an hour, I never got my meal and my friend’s food was not good. We finally decided to leave and was charged over $50 for two bad drinks and a sloppy meal! The wait staff was personable, but she seemed as frustrated as we were…gave her a nice tip, however.

I definitely recommend coming here especially if you are a woman. They are very women friendly. They allowed me and my sister to wait in the establishment after they closed until our ride got here and I really appreciate that bc detroit is not a safe place for women to wander around at night. Amazing customer service and they prioritize the safety of their guests over anything else. Food was delicious too!
