First of all, I waited over 30mins.
The food tasted good.
It deserves a 4 star but waiting over 30mins for fried chicken ain’t cute.

Eli, the so called manager on duty is a very rude individual. I was a regular customer before speaking with this phenomenon. Gus sure has something great, but a staff member like this one, can kill the business in a flash because they don’t know how to talk to people. NEVER AGAIN.
My friend is always talking about the chicken here, so on our way through Detroit decided to try it out. We were not disappointed and will stop by anytime we are in Detroit!

Really good chicken spot with delicious soul food sides. For $26 I got my Mom a 2 piece dinner with Mac and cheese and collard greens, and myself a nice chicken sandwich. Pretty much the same I would pay at Wendy's for shitty food, but here the portions are larger and everything tastes better, and I don't feel bad after eating it. Highly recommend

Food was on point, service and vibe were on point. Ely took very good care of us. We got the fried okra, spicy dark meat 3 piece and it was all so good. I had Gus’s in Memphis and I can tell you that the chicken at both places were crispy and friend to perfection.

The best thing about my visit was Eli! He served us with charm, honesty and kindness! The chicken is AMAZING! And the okra is really good too! Stay away from the macaroni and cheese, but definitely don’t stay away from the restaurant!

Great service and food, we had chicken, tenders, Mac n cheese, and greens.
The chicken itself was pretty good, I got the 2 piece dark. Meat was juicy and pretty tender and the outside and skin was nice a crisp, it's not battered probably a single dredge and there's a light spice to it.
The mac and cheese is frankly pretty boring itxs noodles in velveeta with a little paprika on top. I wouldn't order it again.
The potato salad was better but not amazing.
Fried green tomatoes where honestly pretty good, nice and bright acidic flavor, not sure if they add lemon before the dredge or what... they were pretty good.
I would definitely go here again, it was pretty pricey for what you get, but it is miles ahead of most of the basic chicken shops in the area.

Our visit to Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken was nothing short of outstanding. The food was absolutely delicious—perfectly seasoned, incredibly juicy fried chicken that truly lives up to its reputation. The restaurant itself was spotless and inviting, creating a comfortable dining experience from the moment we walked in.
What made our visit even more memorable was the warm hospitality from Isaiah, the manager. He took the time to share a bit of the restaurant’s history, which added a personal and welcoming touch to our experience.
If you’re in Detroit, this is a must-visit spot. We’ll definitely be back to Gus’s every time we’re in town!
