THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY OFF YOUR CARD PAY WITH CASH BE AWARE !! The food had absolutely no seasoning I made a carry out order around 11pm for a waffle sausage and 2 pattie melts and honestly didn't know you could mess a Pattie melt up the burger tasted like water , the waffle was dry the only plus was the breakfast sausage from the whole meal !! But on top of all of that they took a 31% tip of my card without my knowledge and had my card company calling me asking me what happened at the restaurant I would not recommend for food , a place to chill anything like that it's kinda crazy that people will have bad food and also steal your money as well :(
Went during the weekday during dinner time. It was quiet with few customers. There were 5 of us. We ordered drinks and dinner. Since there was only 1 bartender, we were getting our drinks along with our food. That is my only complaint. Drinks were good. The Fruity Pebbles French toast was delicious. Our vegetarians enjoyed their meal, and my husband really liked the pulled pork.
Not the same! Clearly under new management. I went a couple months ago around 11 and was basically rushed into ordering. Apparently, they close at 12 even though they advertise staying open until 2. My food was delicious, so I wrote it off as a post covid inconvenience. Today, I decided to go earlier. I was surprised to see a super limited menu with almost no vegan or vegetarian options. My food was awful and definitely not worth the price. It's so disappointing. Honest John's was a Detroit gem. At least the drinks are still good.
Honest johns not very honest. They charge for ice nit telling us in our drinks, charged fir doubles in our mixed drink not telling us. Be careful because our party of 5 had an automatic 20% gratuity added. We almost double tipped. Food was great. Adequate priced. Service was normal, Drinks were great but the added nickel and dime cost for ice and sneaky double shots really bothered us.
Came here randomly with the recommendation of a strange. Best decision ever. Amazing dive bar with a super hippie vibe. Our server was Al, Who told us this place is the place to be after dark. Briefed us on the menu. And even told us the backstory about the extravagant story of honest John. The bloody Mary’s are pretty awesome.
The seating is great and the food is fresh and delicious. I will definitely eat there again!Parking: Right outside their front door.
Came across this place for brunch because it happened to be less than a mile from our Airbnb this weekend :) The inside seemed to have alot of older wooden booths and lots of fun neon lights... all over. Definitely a bar setting. The host desk was in the middle of the restaurant when we walked in the front door and we made it there at a non busy time and were seated right away. My friend really liked her Bloody Mary! I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich because I'm a big fan of Texas toast :) The service was good and everything was delicious! My only complaint was the bathroom was very dirty and pungent. Hope that can be looked at soon. Definitely don't mind the graffiti on the walls as a bar bathroom but it was the smell alone that was a huge turn off. Overall good brunch experience!
Visited on Saturday night 9/24 arrived before midnight. Was seated then was told unfortunately the kitchen is closed. When we asked to speak to the manager we voiced our concerns. How do you advertise to be open until 2am but the kitchen is closed before midnight??? Manager was very sympathetic yet very overwhelmed. Many people were complaining of the same concern we had. After 10/15 min he came back to us and said he can take our order....apparently the chef can choose when he wants to close the kitchen. Our meal was very good, however not worth the headache we went through. If your going to advertise to stay open until 2am then the kitchen should stay open until then! Or advertise the kitchen will close at a certain time.
We had the reuben and it was fantastic. It was not the run of the mill deli meat but actual corned beef roast thinly sliced. The staff was friendly and quickly took care of our group of 5 on a Sunday pm. I highly recommend this bar & grill-a gem to discover .
When checking into my hotel I asked the bellman for a good recommendation for breakfast. Something local. He recommend this place. They open at 7:00am and my colleague and I were the first. Very nice staff and promptly served our coffee and water. I ordered the breakfast special and “grits” as I am from the south and wanted to try them. Food was very good and a lot. 2 eggs. Lots of hash browns and 4 sausage links. It was all very good. Grits were good but sweet and I am not use to that. I would recommend and yea it is a bar and the bar is open at 7:00am with most folks getting drinks. You noticed a lot of the night shift nurses coming in for breakfast and drinks so I read that as a great thing.
They stay open until 2am everyday. I usually only go for breakfast but their late menu is decent
Horrible food. Mimosa was the nasty tasted like dirty ....... ......................................... Nice people
Love this place! I came for the frozen mimosa (fromo) and it was exactly as I imagined it to be. My wife tried the gummy bear, and while it was sweet and a little peachy, it was perfection mixed with the fromo. Will definitely be back for the to go pints! Parking is effortless and the servers were nice.
Honest John's has always been my go-to spot for breakfast and a late-night snack. The staff is great, welcoming atmosphere, and large portions of food for a reasonable price. My go to selections are the Hani John, Patty Melt, and Chicken and Waffle. It gets busy on the weekends, so get there early!
It's changed SO MUCH: Expensive compared to every other local bar. Not impressed! Miller Lite is a goofy $4.24 a bottle. Go to Jumbo's, $3 bucks!
