Have always loved this place. I’ve been coming here since I was a toddler. My dad was a diehard Lafayette fan and that carried over to me. The coneys are consistent and the chili cheese fries are a great side dish. I’ll always make it a point to visit here when I’m back in town. This time I got one Lafayette special, which is a combo coney/loose burger. It was great of course.
We are old school chili dog fans from the east coast, and this place is the real deal! From what we could tell, the dogs are probably comparable to the joint next door, but Lafayette has maintained an ambience that is like a trip back in a time machine. Our only observation was the type of onion they use tends to overwhelm the other flavors. So we would recommend getting the dog and chili sauce only as the flavor of the dogs is excellent and the chili sauce is a great accompaniment...
Must try Detriot style hot dog. Chili style on hot dog. Historical place. Great service, old school style. The people serving was funny. Also next door American Coney Island will try to get you to come to there business too haha.
