Mario's Restaurant Reviews
Went there only once for a friend's birthday several years ago. Never again! Their so-called "valet" was rude as hell, no people skills whatsoever. (We tipped him generously, and he didn't even bother to grunt) The food was awful! I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo. The sauce was so watery it seemed like they had just taken the noodles out of the water and put them on my plate. Additionally, there wasn't an ounce of flavor! This restaurant is a blight on the community. Regularly has over grown grass and weeds obstructing the side walks. They also refuse to clear snow from the sidewalks for the pedestrian heavy area. And the dumpster across from their entrance is constantly overflowing and scattered everywhere. If that is how they maintain what people see, imagine their kitchen.
My sister and I had an amazing experience at Mario’s this evening including having our waiter Geno sing opera to us. The staff is wonderful and Geno is phenomenal. Thank you for a remarkable evening.

Mario's Restaurant combines old-world charm with excellent service, making it a standout dining destination. Known as the oldest Italian restaurant in Detroit, it offers five-course meals that provide great value, featuring generous portions including an entree. The restaurant skillfully accommodates dietary restrictions and is ideal for special occasions, thanks to its beautiful atmosphere. Guests have noted the old-school dress code, adding to the restaurant's unique charm, though some felt it could be a bit fancy. There have been instances where leftovers could not be taken away, leading to disappointment. However, many diners appreciate the complimentary bread, relish tray, salad, soup, and side of pasta that accompany each meal. Recent reviews highlight outstanding meals, such as the filet dinner special and the Lobster special, along with attentive service from staff like Phil. With its reasonable prices and discounts, Mario's remains a cute place for a throwback dining experience.
