Mr. Kabob Xpress is one of my favorite lunchtime places downtown. The bowls are always delicious, and I've had mine both healthy with hummus, chickpeas, and vegetables, as well as on the less healthy side with their delicious crispy fries. Some downsides keep it from getting five stars. The bowls are expensive. It is more expensive than comparable restaurants in the metro area. Depending on meat and topping choices, you could easily spend $20 on a bowl. It's a pain to find parking outside the restaurant. I've had minor communication issues with the people creating the bowls. Sometimes we don't understand each other. I saw that there are more Mr. Kabob Xpress locations in the suburbs. I plan to dine at one later this year. I'm hoping the taste is as good as this one downtown.

Ridiculously overpriced for the quality and quantity.

The containers and the grills are not clean. You can notice that they don’t have a proper cleaning process. Last year when I was here I enjoyed the food but I will not go back.

The atmosphere was nice and clean. The staff was nice and really friendly. The food... well that was my problem. It was a 6/10 @ best. Nothing special. If you can't beat chipotle... or even moes... like, that's a joke.

My meat was barely cooked, my jalapeños were browned , my bowl was watery at the bottom. I called and instead of listening SJ continuously tried to justify their wrongdoings.

This review is based solely on the Catering Expo held in downtown Detroit 6/21. The gentlemen representing the brand was friendly and enthusiastic and they were one of only a couple of vendors that hadn't run out of food, literature, or samples. This to me says they are prepared and capable to execute the perfect catering order to consider in the future. Also, the food was all excellent!

Mr. Kabob is an institution that started in Berkley and brings the same high quality food to downtown Detroit. Top notch fresh ingredients, excellent hummus and garlic sauce, and an easy build-your-own bowl or wrap can appeal to lots of dietary needs and tastes. In short, they serve up shawarma or shawarma bowls with lots of Mediterranean favourites like tzatziki, tabbouleh, and fattoush. Obviously grilled chicken and beef take centre stage here, but they offer a dizzying variety of veggies, sauces, and toppings to customise your meal. Shawarma on a base of brown rice? Sure! Prefer red pepper hummus? Go for it!The express means an assembly line along the grill, starting with a fresh pita or bowl, adding the base, and moving all the way along. You can order ahead but Mr. Kabob works fast. I never wait long to get piping, fresh food. Their app is easy to use and they stay busy between 11am-1pm during week days so that can help avoid the line. There's a lot of seating here and free water, but the restaurant can get awfully busy. Fortunately there's lots of seating around Cadillac Square or Campus Martius if you walk a few hundred feet.Simple, reasonably priced, and delicious: what more can you want?

Great falafel. Have had other dishes. Also good quality. But I'm a fan of their falafel which I think is awesome. I'm always intimidated when I order because so much but the staff is kind. Great place to eat for lunch. But get there before noon so no waiting. But they are fast. I always get the brown rice bowl. $2 extra but worth it.

Came in at 1:50pm, when I walked in all the staff looked at me like I was bothering them. Since everyone was looking at me I asked were they closed, everyone looked around like they were trying to decide if they wanted to take another before someone finally shouted we’re closed. This place could use better customer service and employees that are willing to do their job.

Food was ok, mediocre at best. Stopped in for lunch and the employees seemed bothered and in a hurry. Yet there was no one in the restaurant and I ordered online. The food seemed overpriced for the portions. But, due to the location its understandable. Probably won't return.

I flew in all the way from North Carolina to try this Shawarma!!! Okay, I did have a company meeting at Ford Field!!! This was the best shawarma I had eaten since eating one in Israel!!!! Authentic middle eastern taste...clean and fresh!!!! I would fly in again for another shawarma here!!! Was so good!!!
