“Incredible service here. I went in and had a couple beers, when I tried to pay their card machine wasn’t working. Instead of asking me to go and withdraw cash (which I offered to do numerous times) the two ladies working there insisted that the beers were on the house. Thank you for your hospitality!!!“

“I went here for a late lunch. I heard about this place on Facebook and wanted to come here for the history. It also has good reviews. I ordered the fried chicken dinner which comes with fries, coleslaw and bread. The chicken is very good and exactly what I was looking for. The chicken was hot and fresh. The skin was crispy and not overly seasoned and the meat was moist with good flavor. It comes with a ton of fries but just a little bit of coleslaw. I would have liked less fries and more slaw. The slaw was good and tasted fresh. The bread was also good. It was 2 thick slices of a baguette. It would have been nice to have some garlic butter or honey butter to put on it, (but I shouldn't be eating bread anyway). I only ate the drumstick and wing and took the breast and thigh home.
I ordered the Goulash to take home. It is a generous amount and definitely will be 2 meals. I tasted it before putting it in the fridge. It's meaty and has a good flavor, but it's seasoned more like an Italian pasta dish rather than goulash. It also came with bread.
The staff is friendly and seemed to know a lot of the people there. Lots of local regular patrons.
This tavern was originally a one room, log building for travelers to stop when going to Chicago. I think it would be cool if the interior had an old log cabin look.“

“Taj is an excellent Indian restaurant that I highly recommend to everyone! The food is flavorful and authentic, yet they also have options that even picky eaters will enjoy. My husband was hesitant at first, but after our visit we loved it so much that it’s become our weekly tradition. Definitely worth a try!“

“ATTENTION WOUNDED MINNOW CUSTOMERS!!!! I" DO NOT" RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1st off let me say that we are big supporters of local businesses, especially Resturants. Today we went to The Wounded Minnow for a late lunch with another couple. We spent $60 each couple on our meals. I'm one to review my bill afterwards & found we were double charged for an item. It was no problem & was corrected, a simple mistake. HOWEVER I noticed this establishment is now charging $1.00 for each glass of ice water per customer. When I spoke with our waitress( who was wonderful) & asked if Kyle is seriously charging for water she said " Kyle told us to tell the customer that the ice machine cost money plus the labor. WHAT!!!!!! For starters the small amount of ice that was in the glass had melted before the drink was half gone. Also Kyle told the wait staff to explain the reason why he was charging the $$ but didn't instruct them to tell you when you ordered the water there would be a $1.00 charge. ( Dirty Buisness Kyle) I don't get this... We paid our bill & left, but I can tell you we will never be back & neither will our friends. Now, let me ask the question... Was it worth the loss of buisness? I also called every other buisness that offers food & drinks on Front St. along with (4) places in Niles, Mi & not one of them charge for water. I could see if someone walked in & wanted a water to go, but paying customers to be charged for this is disgusting. KYLE BELEW, you should be Ashamed of yourself!!!!“
