Wednesday Special
A milder (and vegan) alternative to the Senegal special, this unique dish from Mozambique consists of our traditional collard greens stewed in a mild sauce of ground peanuts and coconut milk. Very creamy and deliciously subtle. Served over rice. Served with a small side of cabbage and salad.
Tuesday Special
Mild or spicy beef chunks sauteed with pieces of Altu's sweet and tender cabbage. A simple dish with lots of surprising flavors. Served with a small side of cabbage and salad.
Thursday Special
Another favorite dish with low heat and big flavor. Tender potato chunks are stewed in a complex curry sauce with whole green beans and baby carrots. Served with a small side of cabbage and salad.

Lived in Lansing years ago and used to eat here regularly - after moving, I go any time I’m near EL. Ordered well over 30 times - one of 3 restaurants I’ve gotten very frequently and never one single time been disappointed.

The injera might be an acquired taste of you haven’t had it before - but will likely grow on you each time you try it. I’d recommend getting rice your first visit instead and add a side of injera to try (or if you just love rice like...

As a vegetarian, I love the food here. I think I’ve tried most things on the menu. I’m still acquiring a taste for the spongy Injera bread, so I order half rice, half bread with my meal.

Overall this is an ok restaurant. The food is mid and honestly feels like they microwave the stews before serving them. I found a literal bug in my food and they tried to convince me that it was a cardimon seed. I give it 3 stars only because of how delicious the injera is. As someone who enjoys Ethiopian food, I only come here for the injera. Everything else needs work though.
