I ordered a matcha and it tastes like watered down milk. The color is very dull and I cant taste any matcha at well. I usually get coffee at the other Blue Owl location and it’s good, I’ll stick with that next time.

I really love the atmosphere here. Even though it can be a little cramped, it is always lively. The drinks are always good and the cups they give you are cute. The servers are always sweet and helpful. My big issue is the food. The breakfast sandwich is either really good and fresh, or it is cold and tastes like it was made a week ago. We have gotten perfectly done bagels, and ones that are burnt. The food is nearly always hit or miss, but that’s the only downside and I rarely see people ordering food here anyways. The drinks and the atmosphere are the big winners here!

Undeniably, I have spent quite a pretty penny at this place over time, but I have found it to be worth it. The flavoring options are many, and the mocha, cappuccino, and latte are spectacular! I saw a review harshing on the cortado but I really love it. The shot is smooth and its really nice if you put a small bit of flavoring in it too. Mornings are less busy, and good for gatherings of 2-4. Some tables have a little wobble, but at least when you use them, it comes with delicious coffee on top of it.

We grab early coffee for the road at 7:30am
the service was good and the vibe of the shop energised us.

I’m not the type to leave reviews but I must share as I’m appalled at what happened here. First I ordered my usual and was told by the barista that they cannot make it in pour over. I figured she was new. I’m not picky, still left her a great tip for pouring a simple black coffee. My friend ordered her usual, and was given that. We’re sitting and visiting and another barista comes over to inform that she will no longer be able to order the coffee the way she likes it. Caught offguard, she asked why. He exclaimed, “because we just don’t do that here”
Still not understanding, she said, “so if it comes out not hot enough, I have to come back and either request a refund or another cup of coffee, which wastes product and simply doesn’t make sense”
The barista repeatedly stated, “we just don’t do that here” and “I’m not trying to argue” but could not answer simple questions and clearly he was coming over to argue. He walked away for a moment and my friend and I discussed how strange this interaction was and very unprofessional and lacking of customer service. He came back and told us we needed to leave. We asked for our money back if he was making us leave. He refused so we said we would finish our coffees and leave once done, no harm. He then said he would call the cops. We said please do. He did just so. We left once the cop showed up as I’m sure cops in East Lansing have much better things to do on a Saturday afternoon. A place I once frequented, I will boycott and will spread word to others what a crime it is to order a hot coffee at blue owl in East Lansing. 2 major coffee chains have opened within walking distance. Blue owl must set itself apart and consider this when they hire staff. Maybe it was a win for the barista on his high horse but overall, he will negatively impact the business blue owl does.

It has that millennial charm to it, but that makes it a pretty nice place to get a morning coffee. Clean and calm, I would recommend 👍

One of my recently found favorite places to get work done when I'm in Lansing.

I want to support local coffee shop businesses, but please post prices for products offered- at the very least the products posted on the menu! There are no menu pricing reference materials to be found and when I asked the barista, well… (read into the dots) 2 simple take-out drinks for $10+ doesn’t feel fair :/

The coffee is great and the atmosphere is cute but $8.50 for a maybe 12 oz oatmilk latte is... A lot. I understand high quality coffee can be pricey but whew, not something I can justify.
