Sansu Sushi and Cocktails

Our visit to the restaurant was not so good because of our server, Ingred. She was a bit rude to us and did not seem very friendly. When we asked about the menu, her answers felt rushed and not so helpful. It gave us the feeling that she did not want to serve our table. The food was really good, but good service is very important for nice dining, and this time, it was disappointing. I hope next time, the staff can be more kind and welcoming. She also put our cups down quite harshly after asking for a refill.

Food is always outstanding!!! We’ve been there tons of times! Service is hit or miss. Sometimes we wait along time for our food, other times it’s super fast.

I love this place, maybe the best sushi in the area. They have a large menu, some interesting desserts. The eel is amazing. The restaurant closes very early.

I have to give more than just one star because Sansu is absolutely by far my favorite sushi restaurant to ever exist and will always be. Their food is so good and quality. I’ve never had a complaint about service either. I’ve been going here over a decade it feels like. However, yes I understand inflation is a thing and understand the economy blows, but in the last couple years their sushi prices have DOUBLED. And yes I remember what they used to be lol. For only a couple years, I don’t think they should have doubled. It used to be pretty affordable, although still higher end compared to others in the area. Now it’s pretty unaffordable and a total splurge if I want to ever go again and that makes me so sad. Their basic special Cali roll used to be priced at $6, now it’s $13!!!!! Their samchee roll used to be priced at $8.50, now $15.50!! Soup and salad almost doubled if you do take out (I know it’s free sit down still thankfully). I’m also noticing that I think prices have increased even more in the last month. Like I said I get inflation and economic times but to double in just a couple years and comparing to other restaurants in the area, they are very overpriced now and I’m so sad as a regular. 😭😭 I can’t imagine others have not noticed this either as a review before mine mentioned their prices being too high as well.

After all of these years, going to East Lansing to visit Michigan State University how did I miss this until now?? We had an amazing dinner in traditional Japanese seating with a wonderful waitress Sofia. I will try to go to this restaurant whenever I am back in town.

The best sushi restaurant in East Lansing. The Sansu roll is delicious and the tatami area where you take off your shoes and sit at the in ground table is a fun experience. I ate here with my family upon graduation and like to visit when I’m in town.

This THE place to go in Lansing for a beautifully prepared and presented and of course fresh and delicious Sushi! Beautiful interior. Very Japanese. Fabulous service. You can't go wrong if you like sushi or other related Japanese dishes.
