Pros: REALLY delicious ice cream, and a friendly owner who comes up with creative and yummy flavors. The servings are generous. The flavors change often, which is fun. Prices are reasonable too.
Cons: Slow service, partly because they have obscure flavor labels like “animal kingdom” with no explanation, so customers have to ask for descriptions of the flavors constantly. They don’t post current flavors on the window either, so that slows it down too. It is a cash-only establishment, tho it has an ATM inside. They scoop cones in a strange way that makes them hard to eat: giant scoops that overflow the cone, bits falling off, but they tax cups. I’ve had to grab a cup and spoon anyway just to keep my ice cream from falling on the ground. I mean it’s nice to get so much ice cream, but it’s hard to eat! Lol I will keep coming back forever, but they could make it a better experience for people with a few simple changes.

All of the good reviews, especially the one I left, were for the previous owner. These new reviews are sketchy.. This place hasn’t just gone downhill, it fell off the sand dune cliff.. We used to come here all the time for the strawberry shortcake and the hot fudge cream puff, and they dropped the shortcake from the menu, and kept the cream puff for maybe a week! But they only gave you half of the cream puff!!! I thought they were joking.
Besides from that, the prices went up and the portions went down.. save your time and cash.. since it’s cash only lol.

Good selection, the kid working was helpful, I wish they had descriptions of what the flavors were though. We took our cones to the bridge and ate on the river, location is great.

Must stop in Elk Rapids! Has something for everyone. Unique flavors of homemade ice cream, soft serve, sundaes, shakes, ice cream nachos. Cash only but has ATM inside. Would highly recommend!

Great hometown ice cream shop. They make their own ice cream and have several unique flavors. Recently started selling soft serve as well.
Great ice cream flavors, big portion. One scoop of ice cream is like 2 cups. Also it is very affordable, $5 a scoop, cash only though. They have so many unique flavor and local flavor. Good thing it is summer and we can go swimming, otherwise back is getting big from eating their delicious ice cream.

We go here once or twice a year when visiting Elk Rapids...great ice cream and the kids working are a hoot!!

I understand how difficult it is now to find help. This is why most of my reviews try to focus on the positive. Unfortunately, this used to be my favorite place to stop for a treat. At times we would drive 13 miles one way just to get ice cream from here with a homemade waffle cone. In this past month we have been here at least five times. Three out of the five times they have been out of waffle cones. What???And one time I had to come back an hour later just to get a waffle cone. So truly, four out of five times.Make them up ahead of time, put them in a Rubbermaid container OR don’t advertise that you have homemade waffle cones. This last time it was dead in there and they had no waffle cones. ??♀️ The whole point of us driving out of our way to THIS ice cream place is because of the waffle cones with the homemade ice cream.Even if it’s busy, someone should be keeping up on the waffle cones at all times. Every time I am in there anymore they are out. There’s a lot of money the business owner is missing out on. Plus unhappy customers. ?
