Grocer's Daughter Chocolate Gelato and Sweets Shop

I agree with a couple of previous reviews. The price was high for the small portion that was received. I understand, fair wages and locally sourced dairy. I have had authentic gelato and this was not as good in my opinion.
The other issue is not having the American Flag but having a couple other political flags flying. It is a free country and anyone can fly any flag they want, but one should at least fly the American Flag before any others.

The gelato was not good, service and location seem very nice, but the product was less than stellar. Went here instead of a place serving plain ole Hudsonville, and wish we hadn’t.

What a great place! I accidentally left my wallet there last week and they were kind enough to mail it to me, no asking for money or anything! Such kindness and we enjoyed our gelato as well. I highly recommend them!!!

Thank-you soooo much to the kind folks here! I left my wallet last week at the gelato shop after stopping for an evening treat and they were kind enough to mail it to me and didn’t ask for any money to cover the costs. I highly recommend this place and the gelato was great too. Try the Wookie!

We live about 20 minutes from Grocer’s Daughter and try very hard to get in once a week in the summer when the shop is open! It’s one of our favorite experiences and the first time I tried the mint gelato I felt like I’d never tasted anything more fresh or beautiful - every flavor has that effect! We love the atmosphere too, especially the patio area that has plenty of games for kids and the rocking chairs. It’s truly a little oasis in a busy tourist town. We feel that the prices are well worth it for the locally focused ingredients and really well done product. Also they just added a small take out cooler for you to grab and go food and snacks and we love that as well. Definitely worth a stop when in Empire!

Really, really good gelato and very friendly staff. Prices are high, but I chalk that up to the tourist location and economy.
My concern is that while there was a “up north pride” flag, there were zero American flags. That really seems off and concerning, especially on this long Independence Day holiday weekend.
I’d urge the owners to show pride in all Americans.

The gelato at Grocer’s Daughter is the best! The flavors are so unique, fresh, and vibrant. I dream of the mint chip - it is from mint they grow in their garden and is just beyond delicious. We visit the Leelanau every summer and are always sure to get gelato several times. Super cute and inviting atmosphere with spots to sit indoors and outdoors. Don’t miss out!
