Grocer's Daughter Chocolate Gelato and Sweets Shop

They have 4 vegan truffle options (one has honey so didn't try) and they were all really good and not too expensive. They also have 4 vegan sorbets - also tried all 4 and were delicious. A nice stop after going to the beach

Adorable boutique chocolate shop we got recommended that is a bit outside of Traverse City. We stopped and for a small shop, they have a large assortment of fresh chocolates they make in house. The owner was very knowledgeable and walked us through the different products they offer, and were helpful with navigating our allergens. We got some dark chocolate bars, spicy bars, coco nibs and a variety of truffles. The dark chocolate bars that had spicy seasoning was the highlight for me, as the contrast with the heat and chocolate was exciting. The truffle flavors they have our unique, some of my favorite I tried being the burbon whiskey, uzu and pear ginger. Its a bit pricey but this is a shop that does everything in house and you can taste the love put into their products. i would highly recommend stopping in for some artisan chocolate!

Very high priced for what it was.

We stopped in after a long day of summer hiking on the dunes. The ice cream was great! restrooms were also good quality. Not much else to say other than they had food and a place to wash my hands :) I'd go back!

You have to stop in here, everything is DIVINE. I can’t believe it’s in the middle of nowhere Michigan and not in every major city.

Pistachio was the most authentic version of anything pistachio I've ever tried. The peanut butter chocolate gelato was also incredible.

We love Grocers Daughter and stop to buy chocolate every time we make the trip up-north. When we found out that they opened a Gelato shop we were thrilled! Our favorite is the Mint Chocolate flavor!

Fun, relaxing ice cream shop! They had a large variety of flavors, including 3 dairy-free options of sorbet. The girls working there were all very friendly and kind. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We loved the rocking chairs and outdoor games on the patio. There was also a cute little section of clothing and toys. Bathrooms were very clean.

Tired of burgers and pizza on your vacation and want something different? Well, tough it out one more day because the “Mexican” food here ain’t it. Come for the tasty gelato after your dinner somewhere else.

I will preface this by saying that without a doubt, this is the best gelato around,
but I would recommend sampling first as understandably, using fresh real ingredients. The flavor profile tends to fluctuate. The staff seemed to all be consummate professionals, and since they opened till this year, I thought that they have been running quite well.
All but a few minor inconveniences like more indoor seating and smaller tables.

But this year, it just feels like they’re trying too much with the I don’t mind them branching out and selling Mexican-American food, but what I do mind is the load of cheap foreign imports that feel like they clutter the space, mass produced junk.
It would be one thing if it appeared to be quality handmade items, but for the most part, it wasn’t. If you’re gonna sell anything sell local, or support Latin American or South American trades people.
And don’t get me started on them, contributing to the lack of affordable housing in this county,
building a new building and then renting out the upstairs as short term vacation rental. I’m sure they can justify it any number of ways. I’m just saying it doesn’t reflect well on their “values”.

I agree with a couple of previous reviews. The price was high for the small portion that was received. I understand, fair wages and locally sourced dairy. I have had authentic gelato and this was not as good in my opinion.
The other issue is not having the American Flag but having a couple other political flags flying. It is a free country and anyone can fly any flag they want, but one should at least fly the American Flag before any others.

Delicious gelato and friendly service. This is a nice addition to the chocolate store next door. They operate an Airbnb above the gelato shop that I hope to try one day!

The gelato was not good, service and location seem very nice, but the product was less than stellar. Went here instead of a place serving plain ole Hudsonville, and wish we hadn’t.

What a great place! I accidentally left my wallet there last week and they were kind enough to mail it to me, no asking for money or anything! Such kindness and we enjoyed our gelato as well. I highly recommend them!!!
