My husband & I were looking for a bite to eat before we went on a hike near Empire. We had no idea there was an Asparagus Festival going on. Empire was packed! We stumbled upon the Shipwreck Cafe. We both got their Fitzgerald sandwiches & they were hands-down some of the best sandwiches we've ever had! We loved the bread! Despite the extra business with a lot of customers, the customer service was great. I highly recommend this place. They have ample outdoor seating...

April 13, 2026, I ordered the Fitzgerald on the pretzel bun. Such amazing taste. Fully loaded, the peanut butter cookie and the Michigan Cherry chips made for a great lunch on the Loon Lake pier.

Didn't have the chicken salad wrap today 😕 but I got chicken chili instead. Unless they have changed, I never order anything with bacon 😕 because it's never cooked enough/sort of raw for me.
