Updating my previous review (5 * originally posted when it opened) after our visit tonight. Good Filet mignon with potato gratin - as can be expected at $240/2 ppl. It was very chilly ( October) inside, never could take my jacket off ( think low/ mid 60’s). I was seated to look at the entrance and a side table for the service staff w/ silverware and “to go boxes” ( also better tables available), not an ambiance I strive for at the given price point. It was very noisy, mixed clientele and overall, the atmosphere lacked. We were in/out within one hour. Won’t be back as there are better choices.

The experience was excellent. The appetizer crab cake and the appetizer scallops weee really good. The bone in filet was good, but mine was small compared to my guest. The Bowdies Butter was excellent. The potatoes were good. The wine list was full of high end wine, nickel and nickel was great. The server was very good, patient and did a great job. The bar selection of cocktails was outstanding the bar tender was great. Service level by all was too notch. . Really enjoyed the evening.
My boyfriend and I made reservations for our anniversary. I had been really wanting to try this place. Anyways, we arrived for our reservation, and were promptly seated. After about 15 minutes of different servers walking by and just staring at us ( it was not very busy ) Finally, a waiter named Manny came over and apologized, asked if we had been helped yet, and said we were not in his section, but he would help us until he figures out who our server was. After Manny got us drinks, he came back and explained that he was just going to give our "original" server one of his table so that he could keep our table. Manny was EXCEPTIONAL! He was very nice, polite, attentive. Manny definitely saved the night! I feel like the other servers were all very pre-occupied with the pretty girls at the table behind us or "regular" customers that were there. The manager was even walking around going to the other table to ask how their dinner was, however they did not stop at our table. I was very disappointed in the service that we were given here from everyone except Manny! Manny definitely saved our night! If we were to go back it would only because of him and he would have to be our server, otherwise I would definitely pass on this place.

We were in town from Chicago and decided to dine here for a nice night out! We are SO GLAD that we did! We were promptly seated and greeted by our server Kassandra. She was amazing and super helpful with explaining the menu and our options as we were first-timers. I loved that they had a Zero-Proof “mocktail” list. I ordered the French 42 and it was exquisite. We started with the buratta with pear and crostini for an appetizer and we really enjoyed it. For dinner, I had the filet with Bowdie's sauce and it was SO good! Definitely don't sleep on the Bowdie's sauce! My date had the Salmon with Cajun mushrooms in rosemary sauce and she devoured it! For accompaniments we had the Au Gratin Potatoes and the Garlic Spinach with shaved Parmesan. Both were OUTSTANDING and the spinach was easily the best I've ever had. We will definitely return when we are in the area and will request Kassandra— she was great!
We had such high hopes and left with mixed feelings. We had the house side salads and scallops which were fantastic. The brownie with icecream was brought to us for free for my husband's birthday and that was tasty too. The service was great as well! But the biggest disappointment was the bone in ribeye steak. Which is the whole reason why we went to the restaurant. The seasoning was on point but the quality of the steak was borderline awful. It had so much silver skin and grizzle that we had to cut off so much of the meat because it was inedible. We paid for prime quality steak and it seemed select at best. We were so disappointed.
Parking: Parking garage that you can get validated at the restaurant making it free.

Brought family in from out of town. The ribeye was incredible. They have an amazing wine selection and their bourbon list is insane. Portion sizes are big especially the mushrooms. My family have always been big foodies, but what caught their attention was the service.. I believe his name was Manny. Look forward to our next visit.
Phenomenal food & fantastic service. Due to size/ergonomics of the restaurant, it became slightly rowdy (noisy, I struggled to hear my wife at normal speaking volume) as the evening progressed, putting that more down to the East GR crowd always having to be the loudest in the room (lol). Thanks Bowdies for a great wedding anniversary experience!

We worked with Gwyneth to plan a corporate function and she was fantastic to plan with. I would recommend working with her for any corporate planning you have coming up!

The atmosphere is great and it's super casual (which is nice), yet still upscale! You can dress up or dress down and you won't feel out of place either way. Our server Manny was great and the side of mushrooms with the filet was amazing!
Way boozy drinks, tasted like lighter fluid. Also wait staff was a little rude and pushy with menu options. Was not a good experience. Had me wanting to leave halfway through our dinner. For a better dining experience and similar pricing go to MDRD.
I have had the pleasure of dining at Bowdies Chop House on many occasions and it is always unforgettable experience, our server manny was attentive and professional, making sure our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. The staff always ensures a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, and as always it's nice to see familiar faces, who always make sure everything runs smoothly and truly treat you like a friend. The filet was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, and the Brussels sprouts were simply amazing. To top it all off, our birthday celebration was acknowledged with a complimentary dessert, adding a special touch to an already wonderful evening. Overall, Bowdies Chop House offers outstanding food and impeccable service. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience! The best steak in the city!
Can’t believe this place is in East Grand Rapids, it’s as good or better than any steakhouse in Chicago. We had an outstanding meal, service from our waiter Manny was exceptional.
