First timer…..overall drinks and apps were good. My dinner was super good but the other two with me were very disappointed. The reason for 2 stars is because the service was horrible. He was nice but the time it took to do things was unacceptable. As a bartender/server myself I get how things go and I give a lot of grace but there was no excuse for the slow service. Let me add the other server was sitting at his tables taking orders. What???? Not ok.

It's a unique English style bar with a wonderful choice of beer and tasty food. Highlight of the visit is our server Ryan. He is kind, knowledgeable, friendly, down to earth and full of happiness and good will toward the customers. 10 stars out of 5.

What a great find! We have been meaning to try Brass Ring for a while and so glad we finally did! WOW.. from our server, who was so knowledgeable, friendly and all around great guy, to the food! Our meals were incredible! We can’t wait to go back! The outside area is beautiful and we loved the neighborhood feel and look forward to sitting inside in the pub area in the winter!

I’m in Grand Rapids for a conference and my buddy recommended that I check the Brass Ring out so I hopped into an Uber and rode to the spot. When we pulled into the parking lot, I knew I was in for a treat. The brewery is in a cool old neighborhood, Alger Heights, nestled amongst other neat shops and eateries. I knew I’d be doing some walking after the visit to check the rest of the area out so I headed inside.

I was greeted with that lovely midwestern hospitality and got a seat near the bar, where locals were having loud and wide ranging conversations with the staff, a great sign of things to come. My server popped over and I was further reassured that this was going to be a great visit. Alas, I’m bad with remembering names but he has this chill/good-times vibe that channeled 90’s Pauly Shore in a good way. His mannerisms and way of speaking instantly set me at ease and willing to follow his recommendations.

After some menu exploration, I ordered fish n chips w/curry aioli on the side and a cask ale stout 8 Pound Hammer. The ale was glorious, with a silky mouthfeel like an expertly drafted Guinness from a pub across the pond (which I’ve enjoyed in the past) and the coffee notes I hope for in a stout. My food was superb as well, with perfect crispy yet soft breading on the fish and seasoned fries that were hot, snappy, and begging to be dunked in the aioli. Oh man, that curry aioli. Sooooo good!

I can’t recommend the Brass Ring any more strongly. If you’re in the GR area or passing through with your bike gang, take a break in this pub and you won’t be sorry! Cheers to the Brass Ring team! I’ll be back!

High quality staff. Excellent and unique beer on tap and cask. The food is incredible. The specials never fail to impress, but the curry fries are a must!

I have been coming to brass ring since 2018 and have lived in Alger heights since 2019, this is absolutely our spot. We even held our rehearsal dinner for our wedding here. The beer and food is always exceptional and anyone we bring here agrees. The seasonal and special menus make sure there are always options and as a vegetarian I can always eat here. 1,000% recommend!

Five stars, no question.

The in-house British craft beer selection here is seriously impressive. They brew a wide variety and everything I’ve tried has been excellent. Whether you're into IPAs, stouts, or something lighter, there's something here worth coming back for.

The food is just as good. They clearly don’t take shortcuts. Everything tastes fresh and well-prepared. The fresh-cut fries are the standout; perfectly crisp, not greasy, and honestly the best I’ve had in town.

Best of all, they are dog-friendly and the staff is always so friendly.

Brass Ring Brewery is an Alger Heights gem! From the moment we walked in, Brady and Rich made us feel right at home with outstanding customer service warm, attentive, and just the right amount of fun. The atmosphere is cozy with a rustic-chic vibe, complete with bearded bartenders who could easily double as spa models.

We sat on the outdoor deck and enjoyed the perfect summer night, and wow the food and drinks did NOT disappoint! I had the cheese-licious AND smashed burger (couldn’t decide) and my twin sister got the patty melt one of the best she’s ever had. The meat quality? Top notch. No gristle, just juicy flavor. The fries were crispy perfection, and don’t even get me started on the jalapeño jam it was ON JAM!

We paired our meals with some killer drinks. I had a guava shandy, sissy had lavender blueberry cocktail that was fresh and vibrant, and I even tried a bourbon-based drink (I never drink bourbon!) it was smooth and absolutely delicious. The beer cheese deserves its own fan club.

Bonus: They’re open past 10 PM, the neighborhood is walkable, and the vibe is chill, welcoming, and perfect for date night or hanging with friends.

Highly recommend Brass Ring Brewery for anyone looking for great eats, creative drinks, and a cool local experience in Grand Rapids. Can’t wait to go back!

Amazing food, probably best beer list in town, service is amazingly friendly and very fast! Dog friendly patio. Can't recommend highly enough.

I couldn’t say enough good things about this place, it’s always our first recommendation to anyone for solid beer and food. The true-to-style beer selection is consistently spot-on, and as a lightweight, I love that the ABV often ranges from 3-4% up to 7+, their Spokes Up English ale is a crisp, easy drinker, and the Danny Whizbang ESB and 8 Pound Hammer stout are each perfect examples of what they’re meant to be! I don’t know who I like talking to more, the staff or the patrons - one of my favorite things here is the horseshoe-shaped bar, which is great for socializing when you need it! As far as food, everything I’ve ordered I would get again, the Deviled Eggs are hard to beat!

Stopped in today for a couple of pints. Amazing English beers. They were clean, malty, and had a nice light ester. The bartender, Chrystal (not sure on the spelling) was great and answered all of my nerdy beer questions. Will definitely stop in again some time.

I went picked Brass Ring Brewing to celebrate my birthday with my family. I choose Brass Ring because I was interested in trying their cask ales. What I found at Brass Ring was a level of customer service that I have rarely found across the food service industry. We showed up at Brass Ring to find that a very large group was dining there, taking up a majority of the seating. They don't take reservations, so it was going to be a challenge finding a table for our group of 6. The owner heard the staff struggling to find us an available table. He jumped in and found a solution. He personally asked a couple that was seated at a large table if they would be willing to move. They graciously accepted to make room for us. This level of customer service has obviously been trained into the entire staff because our waiter was the most helpful and hospitable server I've ever encountered. Firstly, he was extremely knowledgeable of food and drink menu, helping us to navigate it superbly. He also got the entire restaurant to sing "Happy Birthday" with us when it was time for dessert. The food and drinks were top notch, but the customer service was out of this world. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to the Brass Ring. You will not be disappointed!
