Greatest place around to get bread! Love their pastries even more. however they are much better when reheated if they’ve been out rather than eating after buying. I would love to see if they could, one day, be able to reheat them behind the counter at the bakery so I could have them right then and there. Please for the love of bread— BRING BACK THE RIGHTEOUS CROISSANT! I loved that one! Never have craved a croissant like that before.
I am a 72 year old bread baker, just to qualify this review. My bread is, she says humbly, legendary in my community of family, friends, and community. So, yeah, I’m a home bread baker of upward to 4 loaves a day as needed. That being said, I have occasions when I need to purchase bread from Field and Fire Bakery at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market. Sometimes it’s for parties, etc. Anyway, I’m a bit of a bread snob cuz that happens when you slave hands in over a home kitchen...
Field & Fire is a must-visit whenever I visit Grand Rapids. Their pastries are delicious and unique - loved the earl gray cruffin! The bread has so much flavor and is perfectly soft on the inside and crusty on the outside. I 100% recommend!
