I have been dining here for years, always great and fresh. The last two times, not so much. I got a cosmo roll with tuna which was great, and 2 tuna nigiri, and two yellow tail nigiri. I had to spit the nigiri out. Definitely not good tuna, and not the same as the buttery soft tuna they used on my cosmo roll. Both times they were tough, where I couldn't bite through them, like a line of hard fat that wouldn't break apart when chewing. Absolutely disgusting. Had better tuna at meijer or the cheap sushi places. I don't know if they use different tuna for nigiri vs regular rolls, or just bought a cheaper tuna all together. First time, maybe I got a bad piece, the second time, I knew that they were serving non sushi quality fish. I will not be back because of this. Too much money for low quality, super tough, tuna. The Yellow tail was okay but also seems to be declining in quality.

The service has definitely dropped off over the past few years and the rolls that we had last time left us "meh."

Over good experience. This is my personal opinion. Not bashing this establishment. We ordered 4 rolls, and they were good and tastie, but a lot going on within the rolls with all the flavors they were trying to incorporate into one roll. Little over powering flavor combating each other. Their Carb Rangoon Dip is absolutely amazing and a must order for an appetizer. Onlrly problem no pop/soda from Coke Cola or Pepsi Products, a little weird. Those are the reasons I gave the food a 4 star. Our server was amazing and spot on with our questions and kept my water filled. The atmosphere was nice and clean. im sure during warmer months, the outside sitting is relaxing.

We jokingly asked the host about a special request and to our surprise, she went out of her way to make it happen, and checked on us multiple times to make sure that we were taken care of. Our server was very friendly and more than happy to oblige us as well. We made sure to thank staff personally before we left. 4 stars because there was a very small bone in one of my husband's sushi rolls.

The best sushi around! We've tried so many local spots and we keep coming back to Maru for the most delicious and creative sushi!

I haven't been to Maru in years. I always felt that the sushi was mediocre and over priced. HOWEVER, my wife and I went out there for their Valentines special 1w course dinner and was blown away. The food was amazing, the staff was amazing, and of course the atmosphere was amazing.I think maybe, we will have to come back for a standard lunch or dinner to see if their not just a one trick pony.

It's a cute little place. I got the yaki udon with chicken, and it was delicious. Perfect size, not too small but not too much. They don't have soda, and I like to treat myself to a soda when I go out-- since I don't eat out often, so that was disappointing since most places serve some sort of soda-- but that didn't ruin my experience at all, just wanted to mention.

Eat here often but its gradually getting too busy, pricey and slow. Did takeout this weekend and the rolls were not prepared like they are in the restaurant and items were missing. You're better off trying Ginza or Ju, food is as good or better and significantly cheaper.

Cali rolls were amazing. Bulgogi had little bones but was still delicious. Old Fashioned was so good I want to know their recipe, but the ingredients must be expensive.

Food was great. Really it was the best! When we got there though it took 20 minutes to get a server. People that came in after us got served before us. There was apparently confusion on who had our table, according to our (eventual) server Shannon. But the ongoing delay was beyond what we saw from others being served.

My friend and I ended up ordering takeout since the restaurant was full and so was the Bridge Street location. Kat is too sweet! She left a handwritten note on our bag and we had such a nice conversation, it hardly felt like waiting. We absolutely loved our food, the crab rangoon dip is the best thing ever!

I really enjoyed my first trip to Maru! We have been trying out the local sushi restaurants and this one is definitely in the running for the top! It's a cute vibe inside, I would say upscale casual on a Friday night but definitely not fancy. The rolls were a little higher priced but they are larger. We had excellent service and a fun night out. Definitely will be back.
