Today was my first time attending Riocso soul food in Highland Park. I got two great tasting well cooked turkey leg&wing With mac & cheese and cheesy potatoes and corn the food was great, but they also put in a burnt cornbread. The server was pretty great accommodating me, but the cashier was pretty rude she didn’t charge me correctly for a $26 dollar order I only paid $2.38 after asking her a few times did she do it right she didn’t. But otherwise the food was great...
Just happened to run across this place, so decided to stop. Let's get into it. The pros: I had smothered pork chops, cabbage & mac & cheese, hot water corn bread. It all was so good. The staff was nice & friendly. The cons:Establishment was clean.
The cons: They had ran out of yams, collard greens and almost out of dressing. ( i went in the afternoon). The hot water cornbread was the size of a 1/2 dollar coin.

Oxtails are soul food style, not Jamacian style. Large pieces of meat. Flavorful and tender. Was quite pleased.
Try mixing the oxtail drippings with the gravy to pour over the mashed potatoes, you won't regret it.
Cornbread is fried. Never had it that way. It was really pleasant.
Worth the trip!
