Plenty of beers on tap to satisfy any palate in the heart of downtown HollandšŸ»

The fried cauliflower was amazing but the burgers were terrible, we ordered them medium but we got well done burgers. The pretzel buns weren't great, very difficult to eat, food seemed sloppy. Service was trash, had a defective straw, told the waitress, never got a new one until I told the manager. The waitress wasn't attentive to us at all.

The one beer I had was good, unfortunately our server decided not to come back. After chasing someone down for the bill, we were given the wrong one. Once that was corrected, we had to wait around again because they ran out of paper. A tragic comedy of errors and all they had to say in response was that they were busy. The place was at most 3/4 full, even the bar had open seating. I'd hate to be there when it's a full house.

Service was exactly as expected, prompt each step of the way.

Food, middling. Fried cornbread isn't bad but you get 2 good sized pieces plus butter for $10. I was fine with that until the table next to us ordered it as a side--same portion but $3 per piece.
I had the beef stroganoff, it's topped with cream which presents well but requires you to stir it all up and really cooled off the noodles, very bland.
Atmosphere is typical pub atmosphere, exactly as expected.

Really, the same beer recipe over 8 beers???? You're gonna just flavor cover the same grain recipe over and over??? Come on professionals.....

Okay so it was around 7 that we came in, it had a cool vibe, the tables are super close together which was weird but the restaurant looked nice & clean. we told the hosts behind the door, whoever it was behind the counter to ā€œhave a nice nightā€ they ignored us LOL our bad for coming in late? rough night..
paid like $14 for a pizza to come out soggy & undercooked, it tasted like a pizza pocket or something out an easy bake oven! I was so disappointed, the pizza was ridiculously small too! the only good thing about it was the toppings I added! I can get a better $5 frozen pizza & it’ll be bigger too!
but maybe I’m dumb for ordering the pizza, it was my first time, I won’t be back which I’m sure no one cares but I was just shocked on the poor food quality! We had appetizers too, I’m not gonna speak on those … *sigh*

An awesome brewery in downtown Holland Michigan.

Come here many times over the years and came recently with a large group. We were seeded pretty quickly and the staff overall were very kind and helpful with the menu.

The beers here are awesome. Some of the absolute best in Michigan. I prefer Big lakes beers over most of the other craft breweries in Holland and Grand Rapids.

The brewery is large and has lots of seating and overall has a great layout.

The food is probably the only blemish. Of the four of us. No one was really satisfied with their meal. Everything was just sort of average to not very good.

So for drinking and hanging out I would absolutely recommend Big Lake brewing but I think you should get food elsewhere.

Our server seemed pretty rushed, and no big deal, everybody has a bad day. We didn't really get a super friendly vibe from anybody working that evening... But we would give it another try if in the area. We ordered an appetizer to split, the Bitterballen. It was a really interesting snack with a texture that we didn't expect, but we were not disappointed. The beer was okay, but I should have ordered a different brew, that's on me!

Big Lake never disappoints. Had dinner there recently with an old friend. The food was excellent. The Hanger Steak is always good, but it was particularly tasty on this visit. The pumpkin based dessert was also quite good. As always, the beer was very good (West Coast style IPA). Our server, Desirae, was very friendly and took great care of us. Her recommendation on the pumpkin cake dessert was a winner!

Do we told our amazing server, Desiree, that we were celebrating my husbands 70th birthday, and ended up with a 70% discount on our meal! This place is a Holland gem!
