Schmidts Corner Bar & Grill

This is my kind of watering hole. Food is good, real people both behind and in front of the bar, good prices, great atmosphere. If you just want to grab a beer or two (and maybe wings or a sandwich) with friends, and among friends, this is the place to go.

We came here as a group of 4. There were a few other patrons at the bar and we opted for a table. Despite being the ONLY staff member working, Kiirsti greeted us right away, took our drink and food orders, made our drink and food orders, and served us within an incredibly reasonable amount of time while still tending to the other customers inside. WOW! Thank you so much, Kiirsti! The food was AMAZING, the service was SPECTACULAR, and if we were local we would definitely be regulars.

Edit: We went back the next day for round two and had another INCREDIBLE experience.

Phenomenal cracker crust pizza. Best around and made with freshly sliced Wisconsin Brick Cheese. Try the Kenner pizza. Next up are the wings, which are amazing. And, the fries are hand cut. So good! All the food is extraordinary. A great place for beers, dinner, or the game!

We travel to this area most summers and have been wanting to stop in for awhile. Their food looks great on Facebook so we dropped by for dinner. We got fried mushrooms, cheese curds, Italian fries, couple of beers, Cuban sandwich. Everything was good! The service was great. Friendly folks. .50 pool table too!

Honestly, we were kind of nervous going in because it looks kinda questionable on whether or not it was an actual restaurant on the outside. But the inside is nice. Food was good. The bartender was the cook and she was the only one working and she did a great job keeping up. If we were locals we'd definitely be back.

The wings and pizza were great! This is obviously a local bar, so the menu is limited and, at times, it can be busy. However, the food is solid and the beer selection is decent.

Although we were just passing through and this bar was located in a ghost town (which made the stop even more interesting), we had a great time. The bar tender girl from Minnesota was great. She was nice, polite, and super chill.

Definitely one of the better places to eat in the Houghton area. The food was excellent — easily one of the best meals I’ve had while visiting. Our server, Molly, was super friendly and made sure everything came out quickly and just right. The prices were very reasonable too, which was a pleasant surprise. I’d absolutely stop here again if I’m ever back in the area. Highly recommend!
