It is a typical chain restaurant. I've had good experiences and bad experiences at varying locations. This one is great 95% of the time. If you go during peak times, you might have a bit of a wait for food, but they check on you quite often. The wait staff is overworked and underpaid in my opinion. But this is at any restaurant really. But... do not hesitate to tip accordingly. We got super fresh food, big portions, and the waitress was great. Will definitely be returning!Kid-friendliness: They have a good selection for kids and if you have a special request for your children who are picky eaters they are very attentive to their needs.

I usually have a good experience at Ionia Applebees. I took my daughter to dinner last night and I get it..it was busy with homecoming students eating and very packed, but when we got our beverages our glasses were DIRTY, our onion rings tasted like they were deep fried in OLD grease, my potatoe soup had not ONE potatoe in it! To top it off we over heard the waitress "Megan" complaining that the table of homecoming students didn't leave a tip. I wonder why!?? Not a good experience...read full review
