The food was mid at best. If in Kalamazoo I almost always go to Toba however, not the Drake location. It just happened to be closer last night, but it was so bad last night. I threw an entire roll away because it was cut so badly and the tuna left a meaty paste smeared across each cut from the roll. 0/10 appetizing to look at and did not taste good. This was the tuna, shrimp tempura and avocado roll. My partner said their vegetarian rolls were just okay. We also got side salads and the spinach tasted dirty. We literally picked out all the pieces so we could eat them.

This place was perfect, absolutely loved the food. Just the flavor in the basic rolls is amazing; the karanagi burrito was packed with flavor and paired with the spicy mayo was such a great combo. Aidan was a great, informative, and friendly waiter. I am 100% going again.

The staff was good. They were very prompt, and the service was wonderful.
However, the sushi was not great. It was a bit warm, and the rice kind of fell apart while we ate the sushi. There were fried sweet peas that were the stringiest things we've ever eaten. The tempura wasn't bad, just kind of bland.
Maybe it was a bad lunch or a bad day for the chef. I'm not sure. We just weren't impressed with the food.
