The undisputed King of old school thin crust Italian pizza. I have enjoyed this pizza place since the early 70’s when they were on the North Side just down from Schinderles Grocery and across from Green-leaf Bar. We drive over a thousand miles to eat the best pizza possible and it is our first stop upon arriving to the twin city area. Pizza Oven is a food landmark for Dickinson county and the whole of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

This was the first time my husband and I ate at the Pizza Oven. The waitress was very friendly. Their pizza was phenomenal! The pizza was one of the best we’ve ever had.They had porketta on their menu. We had never heard of porketta before. Porketta is pork roast that is seasoned with Italian style seasoning and slow cooked in the oven. The waitress said that the porketta normally comes on a sandwich, but they can make a porketta pizza.
