We had a fantastic 5-night stay at The Riv! It's very quaint and quiet, and its walkable proximity to Lake Michigan and downtown Leland makes it an ideal base. Plus, being close to Traverse City, Suttons Bay, Northport, and Glen Arbor makes it perfect for exploring all that Leelanau County has to offer.
We dined at The Riv several nights and enjoyed fantastic meals each time.
We highly recommend both dinner and a stay here!
Thanks!
Dinner at the bar was dry nice
We lucked out with reservations here. The rooms were well equipped with comfy beds + towels.
The bathroom light wasn't working, but there was a note there apologizing. There was 1 robe, we wish there had been 3, one for us each.
The staff was great for the hotel + restaurant on site (which was also FABULOUS!)
We would def stay here again and recommend it.
My husband and I came here for dinner. Other than the large party next to us, the food and service was great.
Had dinner here, very nice scenic spot right on river! Food was great, Good wine list. Just a little disappointed there were no local wines by the glass.
My husband and I just stayed here for a weekend away. I was surprised by the lack of communication regarding what to do upon arrival. Our reservation confirmation email contained a price breakdown and cancellation policy. That was it. Nothing directing us on how to check in/ out or parking. Which there is no designated parking for overnight guests (seriously?). You have to attempt to find parking on the street.. which on a weekend in a tourist area is a nightmare. After checking in we were lead up a questionable staircase to our room. Honestly, I felt mislead from the website. I was expecting a “newly designed and remodeled” room as per their website. It wasn’t anything special. I could past there was no tv (some people like that), but it would’ve been nice to have some sort refrigerator for our morning drinks. My husband wanted room one specifically for the river view. It was unfortunate that part of that view includes the top of the first floor restaurants roof. I’m also not convinced that the bed is a king size as listed. We have a king bed at home and this one was obviously smaller. Also, starting at 9p on Saturday night there was a nonstop banging noise coming from the end of the hall. It sounded like tennis balls going through a dryer. This went on for hours. The next day when it was time for us to leave we weren’t sure what to do. We were never given instructions on how to check out. So leaving the key on the counter we checked in at must be what we do? Who knows. I don’t recommend staying here. Take the money you would’ve spent on this place and go somewhere else. I wish we could’ve.
The only positive was the location.
Beautiful location, wonderful restaurant, rooms are bit sparse for the price and no coffee maker in the room.
Kiki Flees is the Best! The staff and management as well. We look forward to our Anniversary Celebration every year at Riverside Inn and we live this special place! ❤️
Overall, the Inn was wonderful. Great location. Room was small. I wished for a second luggage rack. The walk-in shower was terrific. Although as the staff mentioned, there are good restaurants in easy walking distance for breakfast, I would have loved the option for breakfast at the hotel. Dinner there was excellent - the best in town.
Wife and I visited while Oma and Opa watched our kids. Everything… I mean…everything was top notch, but service won the day. Our waitress, after an amazing meal brought us a glass of wine on the house with our check (great strategy for tipping 🙃😉) and recommended we enjoy it on their dock. Which we did….after we gave her a beautiful tip. Can’t wait to come back.

My celebrated my daughters birthday and were greeted by the host/ DR manager who were terribly rude. We were seated and the ambiance is lovely but the server and food- worthless and bland & terribly overpriced! I was so upset by how rude the server (Katie) was- she couldnt recommend meals, talk about specials, recommend desserts- nothing. i thought maybe she was just new but she greeted other tables clearly known locals, she had enthusiasm, knowledge and it was obvious, a family of 4 adults not known to them, was not welcome. (BTW the place was nearly empty).
The menu was incredibly limited. Things you see online are not on the menu. Two desserts - no cake. No good selection of salads and very limited overall. The prime was 85 and steak 56, Chicken- plain- about 47. Sides of carrots were 16$ a piece and indible due to the heavy pepper or inappropriate spice use. (and we normally love spice!). The food took forever and staff could be seen screwing around in the kitchen, loud, pinching each other. Bread was 7$ for three pieces and no ability to add one slice for our fourth family member without ordering another order. (Really?)
We are huge foodies and travel the world enjoying fine dining. I love special places and was hoping this was it. What a waste. My daughter on her bday, was so terribly sad since it really made all of us feel, unwanted.
Such an amazing time! We had our wedding ceremony nearby and decided to stay the weekend at Riverside Inn. We also had our dinner there. Colleen and Sue were great and I highly recommend to anyone considering a visit. We’ll be back!!
We were in town from out of state for our daughter's engagement celebration. We made reservations with an online app. When we arrived, the male manager said we did not have a reservation. He said they never take reservations after 8. He then looked it up under the phone number and found it. He was visibly upset with us and said we would have to order very quickly. He was very rude, which was unfortunate because we were all looking forward to the celebration. Luckily, we got Sue as our waitress. She was amazing! She turned everything around! The food was good but Sue was the star of the night! Thank you, Sue, for turning a bad experience into a fantastic evening!
Restaurante is pricy but good. Location is awesome.
Great food and service 👍
