Bates is a classic burger joint with delicious burgers and great fries (get them cooked well). The people are always friendly and the place seems always busy. If you haven’t tried one, it’s a must!
Always happy to visit Bates Burgers when I visit Michigan! I’m not quite as old as Bates is, but I appreciate the nostalgia that walking into the building provides! The staff was super helpful and accommodating when it came to my mom’s dairy allergy. I ordered the double cheeseburger with everything, along with fries and a Coke. It always feels so authentic opening up the plain white paper bag and peeking inside to see your burger nice and greasy in its wrapper...
This place is so stinky cute! We stumbled upon it while driving through Michigan. The adorable 1950s looking building is was caught our eye. When we sat down we couldn’t believe the prices! $2.5 for a burger? $3.5 for a shake! It’s like we stepped back in time. The service was great/ it’s a true old school diner.
