Portside Inn is a popular local restaurant and bar, known for its inviting atmosphere and variety of drinks, including martinis, beers, and Moscow Mule varieties. The cozy setting features wood-paneled walls that carry the warmth of years of conversations, making it a true fixture in Marquette's community. The menu offers a range of options, including the cod special with chicken enchilada soup and French fries, burgers like the British burger with chicken substitute, and pizzas that satisfy on the coldest nights.
One standout item is the legendary breadsticks, which arrive warm, golden, and impossibly soft, served with a rich cheese spread that keeps customers coming back. The food is known for its comforting quality, with items like the Whitefish cakes, which have impressed many, and the calzone, described as amazing and worth the wait. The prime rib special is also noted for its softness and generous portions. The restaurant’s menu features a variety of comfort foods, including French onion soup, patty melt, and kids cheese pizza, all of which have received praise from visitors.
The staff at Portside Inn are friendly and engaging, ensuring guests feel welcomed. Service is attentive, with servers like Silas providing perfection, and the outdoor patio has been given expert attention to become a beautiful oasis. The patio is big and dog-friendly, adding to the welcoming environment. Customers are encouraged to buy a round of beers for the staff to enjoy after their shift for a $10 donation, a clever way to support the team. The ambiance is enhanced by dim lighting, old photos on the walls, and a fish tank, adding to its local charm. Overall, Portside Inn is more than just a bar and grill; it is a gathering place that captures the essence of Marquette, where everyone feels they belong.
