We love Cafe Zinc, but we've been seated in front of the dessert case on a couple of occasions now and we won't do it again. It's one thing to be sat in front of that during the day when the light is not so aggressive, but to be charged for a $200 dinner and to be sat in front of basically a bug zapper light for over an hour is unacceptable. Nobody should have to sit in front of that dessert case in a fine dining experience atmosphere, it ruins the entire experience.
Cafe Zinc is a true gem. Everything we tried on the menu was outstanding. Great atmosphere and very friendly, attentive and professional servers. Midland is lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber!
Our server was fantastic - we both had complex orders yet she didn't forget a thing, and went so far as to think ahead for us on several occasions. Love the vibe and the pastry case. The hummus and desserts were excellent, and though the power bowl was so-so (some of the ingredients could have been roasted/prepared longer), every single item was carefully and beautifully presented.
