Best BBQ in Michigan.

I•Monit Michigan

I’ve only been in here one time before and that was during Covid, I got kicked out for not wearing the face diaper…at their old location on West River.
Anyway, I stopped in with my wife - just to give it a try. I was not all that impressed.
I thought the brats were very unimaginative and very overpriced. But stupidly I bought some beer brats. I like my brats in “Call me Hazy” Perrin beer, I pull them out for a grill and back into the Hazy.
I knew something was off right off the bat when the Grilling Companies beer brats smelled like fried bologna. Very putrid smell. But I continued to the point of trying a bite of one, spit it out into the sink - & took the rest of the brats and threw them in the trash where they should’ve been in the first place.
I paid $32 for eight brats.
A colossal rip off!
Easily the worst brats I’ve ever bought.
Do you want a good brat?
Try Kingmas or Byron Center Meats.

I like this place, try to hit it monthly. They are the ones who truly have the meats. The brisket is top level, the pulled pork is fabulous, the sausage changes frequently and have various flavors. Worth the visit.

A takeout place only. Inside is a very industrial look. On one wall they have fridges with meats you can buy. Then there's the order counter with all the bbq in warming trays.

I ordered the 3 meat combo($23). I got pulled pork, sausage, and turkey. The sides I chose were baked beans and cheesey potatoes, plus it comes with a piece of cornbread. The pulled pork was very good, and the turkey was excellent, some of the best turkey I've had. The sausage was only okay. The beans were very good, with a tomato tang. Sadly the cheesey potatoes were no bueno. I ended up throwing them away. The cornbread was excellent, I could have eaten a couple more pieces. Overall the portion sizes were generous. I got the Chipotle bbq sauce which I thought was very good. I got a 2nd sauce ($1) Hot Honey. It was good, but did not have a distinct flavor.

The service was efficient and friendly.

Overall a 4-star review. Would I return? Yes with a caveat. I would return if I was already going to be in the area.

MUST VISIT! Plan to eat outside since this place is takeout only, and it's my fault I didn't check that before coming in.
My wife prefers Korean BBQ because of the sweet, tangy and juicy marinades that goes deep into the meat than the flavor of the meat itself. I like both US BBQ and Korean BBQ and I always want to convince her how good the US BBQ is.
This place finally did it.
For the record, she was not hungry going in so it didn't help the case at all, but she still devoured the burnt ends, hot honey BBQ pulled pork and half of the side dishes. We chose broccoli salad, smoked baked beans, loaded mashed potatoes and quinoa salad. Although both salad need a bit more flavor, they were both fresh, crunchy and balanced. My wife especially liked the quinoa salad.
My 2yo daughter chewed through the pulled pork with no effort, and my 4yo son managed to swipe 5 burnt ends before my wife arrived.
Oh, and the corn bread that came with the meal, chef's kiss.
Sorry there are no photos because WE ATE ALL OF THEM LOL.
You can see the kitchen in the back which is clean, the front desk allowed trial bites and were extremely friendly. I appreciated them asking for customer feedback on the spot and that showed they put their heart into the food.
Last but not least, to get four of us all fed and satisfied I spent less than $39. IN THIS ECONOMY?! Only other place that can pull this stunt now is the Costco food court.
Definitely will return. And my wife approving US BBQ for the first time meant the world to me.
Update: Returned 9/20/25 and took pictures before we licked the plates clean.

We've been wanting to try this place out for awhile now. So glad we finally did! I got the 3 meat combo with, Burnt ends, pulled pork, and brisket and for the 2 sides I chose coleslaw and cheesy potatoes. The potatoes are their number 1 seller and for good reason, they were DELICIOUS. My girlfriend had the mac and cheese and that was also very tasty. We liked everything we ordered, even the cornbread that comes with the combo. Friendly staff and good customer service is a plus. We will be returning .
