Some sad news that Hermann passed away and the bakery is closed. What a class act, it was the perfect bakery that felt like you were in a small town. The best doughnuts, bread, and cookies in Michigan. And though Hermann is gone, the memories, smells, and tastes will linger.
My family has been regulars at Hermann's for 3 generations. Every time I go in it is like going back to my childhood. With all of the changes in royal oak over the years it is refreshing to have a place that stands by their product and stays true. Don't change a thing! I hope my children can keep up the Hermann's tradition as well! If you haven't tried it you should. This place is truly the gem of royal oak.
Honestly, I love this bakery way more than Astoria across the street. Much better quality of goods. Just remember to bring cash, they don't take credit cards. LOVE their danishes!!
