This is far one of the best cafes I’ve seen.
Ambiance is so pretty as well as the drinks too
People are so welcoming and they have a lot more options who can try different items.
I had a matcha banana pudding. Never tried this before but turned out to be amazing. Overall this made me to come often for the drinks

Reviewing bc I don't think there are enough interior photos existing. I couldn't tell if it would be challenging to find a spot to sit with my friend today, fear not. There is AMPLE space. Approximately 3 different areas to congregate in. It was not overly busy or uncomfortably crowded on this late Saturday afternoon either! (Note people are removed from photos for privacy).
Parking was easy to find, if you know RO it can be difficult in other areas.
My drink was great, definitely recommend the teas. Absolutely delicious.
Will be a new go-to location for me, the atmosphere is perfect. Absolute vibe.
P.S. I believe this may be the setup on Small Business Saturdays, unsure if the layout changes! Enjoy!

The Fern is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, the space feels warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully curated: the kind of coffee shop you immediately want to settle into. The coffee is consistently excellent: smooth, well-balanced, and clearly made with care by people who really know what they’re doing.
What truly sets The Fern apart, though, is the atmosphere. It’s calm without being boring, cozy without feeling crowded, and effortlessly charming. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick cup or staying awhile to work, read, or catch up with a friend, it just feels right.
The staff are genuinely kind, attentive, and passionate, which makes the experience even better. You can tell this place is run with heart. The Fern has quickly become one of those spots you keep coming back to not just for great coffee, but for the overall experience.
Highly recommend.

I called ahead to let them know my group was coming, and they immediately reserved a table for us. The customer service was truly excellent, they went above and beyond to accommodate me and the girls. The coffee was amazing, the pastries were excellent, and the shop itself is so cute and welcoming. We absolutely loved our experience and would definitely go again!

Really love the atmosphere. I am not a coffee drinker but appreciated the other options. The Banana Bread tea is amazing. However the prices are really high. I love hot chocolate in the winter and ordered one and asked about milk choice and was told they only use water but could put a splash of milk in it. So basically I paid over six dollars for chocolate water. Hot chocolate is not excellent without milk bottom line and shouldn't be over five dollars for regular size.
Nice spot for a good coffee and space to relax.
Seating could be more accommodating. A lot of large tables tied up with singles...

Cute place, I like the location a little off the main drag. But the drinks? I like the alternative Milk options, the drinks are just so sweet. You’re paying “handcrafted” prices for drinks that clearly aren’t. I don’t know if they’re using a pre-made mix for some of these beverages, but they aren’t very good. I stopped in after a long hiatus and found their lattes, which may or may not have actual espresso in them (Or maybe it’s just not great quality beans), to be very similar to their iced teas. Everything overly sweet, without much of an option to eliminate some of that sugar content. Highly overpriced, too. And they don’t like you to stand at their “bar” while your drink is being prepared, mentioning that you can sit down and they will let you know when it’s ready. I think it comes down to them not wanting you to see what they’re using to make your drinks. Kind of like those herbal life tea shops that popped up throughout SE Michigan. I admire that it’s woman owned but for the price, and quality, I’ll take another hiatus.

I really love coming in here, as the space is always very clean, warm inviting, and the staff is pleasant. The menu is always thoughtfully, curated, and inventive. Literally one of my favorite parts of the day. Half of the people that I work with go there every single day. So much easier to get to and get into with The on street parking then the shops in downtown Royal Oak. Don’t sleep on this.
