I will start by saying we got ice cream two nights in a row, and the ice cream is great. My 2nd night was where I had an issue with how I was treated by the staff/management. I ordered a “Beth Dutton” special flavor based on the ice cream shop’s descriptions and photos of the ice cream (on their website). I got the ice cream and took one bite when I realized this was not what I ordered, it had bananas and nuts and was actually a brown color when the photo online showed white like vanilla (I’m allergic to banana and one bite won’t hurt but a whole cup and I’d be in extreme pain with stomach inflammation). I politely explained to the cashier that this wasn’t the right flavor and that I had an allergy to the bananas that were in this (my sister tasted and confirmed banana). The cashier went down to the spot of the ice cream and then came back and told me I was wrong and this was the right flavor. I told her I cannot have it then. Then the older lady, who must be the manager, shouts from the other end of the counter “what he’s saying is that he just doesn’t want it anymore” making it seem that my allergy statement must be made up?? She followed up by shouting “this is why you need to taste a new flavor before getting it” at me from several people away, while the entire restaurant of people listened to her talk to me like a child (I’m a tall 30 year old man). I was shocked and didn’t respond because it was extremely rude of her. They asked what I wanted and I quickly just named something else to get out of this embarrassing situation. They gave me a smaller size cup than I paid for but I just took it and got out of there. I can’t believe this is how I was treated. I don’t usually write reviews ever but my sister and I were completely shocked by this managers treatment. (Service date: 8/10, 8:15ish pm)
One of the main reasons I started visiting South Haven was to visit Sherman's ice cream. Unfortunately as we all know, they were sold a few years ago and closed last year. I was happy to find South Pier and see that they sell multiple brands and actually have 3 Sherman flavors. The portions are quite generous, especially the waffle cones.
South Pier Creamery & Market: The Dairy Gods Have Spoken
Listen, I came for “just one scoop” and left with three pints, a waffle cone the size of a toddler, and a newfound respect for cows.
The ice cream? Creamy. Dreamy. Possibly life-altering. I asked what the most popular flavor was and the cashier didn’t even hesitate. I respected the confidence, so I ordered it—and now I see in color again.
Staff was friendly in that “we’ve seen some things, but we still love ice cream” kind of way. They even laughed at my terrible pun about “mooo-ving” to the area just to be closer to their Butter Pecan.
10/10 would recommend bringing a spoon, an appetite, and emotional support for when you have to choose between flavors.
We got the honey lavender , cappuccino, etc. I really liked mine, the honey lavender. It’s a pretty straight forward place.
Great ice cream!
Delicious ice cream, and their homemade waffle cones were sooo good! Great view of the light house from out front as well!
Good ice cream and excellent service. Tourist prices.
Curated flavors yes, allergy safe yes, but customer service was an absolute zero… ordered a flavored cone, and then discovered it also was chocolate as well. Nothing explained this, and we couldn’t see the lemon flavor in the case. The unpleasant cashier argued with her customers about this, and acted as if it was our problem. She repeated herself many times over and was hostile…. This is unacceptable about a mere ice cream cone…stop normalizing rude treatment to first time customers in a busy beach town when they are unfamiliar with your complicated menu. Major turn off to someone who was excited to have hard dipped ice cream. Will not be back.
The prices are much more reasonable than the Sherman’s original location and the service is more efficient and friendly. We loved the double dark chocolate sea salt flavor
Looking for a classic pistachio ice cream. Ordered “pistachio” got berry with pistachio nuts not good. Should change name to berry pistachio since you have to order off a screen.

Stopped here for ice cream and paid $12 for 2 small ice cream cones. Kids wanted a cup of water and we were told no that we can buy a bottle of water. Keep in mind these 2 kids are toddlers!
Absolutely delicious ice cream!
My boyfriend and I visited for the weekend and stopped in here twice while we were heading to the pier, and we love it. I’m thoroughly impressed by their massive selection of flavors and overall menu, but I’m especially appreciative of the multiple dairy-free options for me. The workers were really accommodating and let me try several samples of the df flavors, all of which were great, but their coconut blueberry was by far the best and the flavor I got a second time. My boyfriend really enjoyed their (dairy) raspberry chocolate chip cheesecake flavor and got it twice. The staff were all very kind, helpful, and worked super efficiently despite the insane rushes they dealt with on Friday and Saturday evening. I’m excited to come back sometime and support such a cute and lively place.
Great during the day to avoid the crowds during sunset viewing. Ice cream is fantastic with unique flavors.
This ice cream was delicious and very unique and memorable. We had the lemon cheesecake and a michigan cherry flavors and they were both delicious and not something you would be able to find in most ice cream shops.
