When you are at Hubbard Lake nobody wants to leave the lake to go inland to Alpena. It is an hour round trip and the bustle of the big box stores and chain restaurants. It is what most people look to get away from. You would wind up wasting half your day in town. And if you are only up here for a weekend your time is valuable. You get up here late on a Friday night you have Saturday and possibly half A-day Sunday before returning home.. Make the most of your time enjoying the lake, The wild life ( The American bald eagle, Deer, Wild turkeys, Coyotes, and if you leave the trash out.. Bears and racoon) and the friendly service of a small town. It is an adventure.

Vegetarian options: All I can say is I love their salads and French fried potatoes.

Kid-friendliness: I go every time my granddaughter comes up, She loves the blueberry pancakes, And the wait staff, Are more than accommodating to her wishes.
