Red Mesa Grill-Traverse City

Wanted to get ten $150 gift certificates and was notified that the Christmas promotion ended before Christmas. Crazy. I was informed I could still get the certificates, just not the Christmas special ones. Luckily another local restaurant was delighted in selling me their Christmas certificates with the additional bonus coupons. Lesson learned, avoid the group who owes Red Mesa.

Stopped in this place, got seated, waited 15 minutes, 2 different waitresses walked passed us, farewell. There was no service. Extremely unprofessional!

Red Mesa is so great! They should consider expanding down state. All we have around Grand Rapids are the copy-and-paste Mexican restaurants with tacky decor, shoe-leather steak, and cheesy names like “Cinco De Mayo” and “Burrito Loco”. Traverse City location was just as good tonight as Boyne City has been in the past. Unfortunately I only see Red Mesas on ski trips up north.

Unfortunately, we didn’t end up eating here. Steak cannot be ordered on its own or substituted without a $14.99 upcharge added to any item. I was simply trying to order something basic—steak tacos, steak nachos, a steak burrito, anything—but couldn’t find an option that didn’t push my meal over $30, which felt unreasonable.
When I asked questions to better understand the menu, our waitress was very rude and dismissive. I was made to feel uncomfortable and stupid for asking simple questions. Because of the interaction, we paid for our drinks and left without ordering food.

Our food was okay, the chips and salsa always hit and the coconut margaritas wooooo! My husband is too polite to send back food because maybe he just doesn't like it and someone else may. He just eats and smiles. Staff is amazing and very attentive!

Avoid This Place

The experience here was terrible from start to finish. The staff was rude and inattentive, which set the tone right away. Our food came out cold and unbelievably salty—to the point where it was hard to eat. Make sure you bring a coat as it’s freezing due to the large fans

To make things worse, they charge for chips and salsa, which feels ridiculous considering it’s a Mexican restaurant . That’s like saying Olive Garden should charge for bread sticks .The amount of salt used is excessive; if you have heart problems or need to watch your blood pressure, I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant altogether.

Honestly, Taco Bell is better and cheaper, which says a lot. Definitely not worth the money or the frustration. We won’t be back

Would recommend anywhere else how do you mess up chips and salsa? So salty then order chicken tacos with beans and rice & the rice & beans came out ice cold and chicken tacos tasted like straight salt skip this spot do yourself a favor give this place a couple months to stay in business serving food like this

Hi. We thought the place was great. Cool atmosphere inside with bar and the large center fireplace. Food was great. We had the fajitas and they were awesome! Margarita was good also! I recommend this place if looking for Mexican style food!
