Red Mesa has always been one of my favorite Traverse City restaurants to go to. I would always be excited to go. Finally went last night, was very confused when we pulled in at dinner time on a Friday night and the parking lot was empty. Summer is always a wonderful server and does an amazing job every time we have had her! My heart broke though when I looked down and the menu was this one sheet double sided mess of a menu. You can’t read it hardly at all and gave me a headache trying to understand it. All our favorite meals gone. I had one of my picky eater kids with me and was disheartened that there may not be something she likes anymore. Fortunately, she found something and liked it. My husband ordered his normal burrito but was disappointed and for once didn’t finish his plate. He didn’t even want to bring home what was left because he was just too disappointed in the food. I was also not a fan of my order, my rice was so overcooked you would break a tooth on eating it. Our Queso was not even fully melted it was clumped in the bottom. At this point until they change the menu again I don’t know that we will ever be back. Which is also unfortunate because I had just ordered an UpNorthLive punch card deal and now I realize that was just a waste of money since I doubt I will ever use it.

I am in town for wine tour weekend with Friends. They weren't nearly as busy as expected for a Friday night. The waitress came quickly to take our drink orders and we loved those. After we ordered our food and she delivered our food she dropped it and we never saw her until we waved someone else for boxes and checks. Had anyone bothered to check on us they would have known that most of us received lukewarm food. I definitely will not be back!

Went on a busy Friday night. Server was super kind and prompt. Very attentive to my food allergy. Everything was fresh and had a homemade feel. It was excellent.

I have been coming to Red Mesa for over 20 years to enjoy their delicious and juicy pork, steak, and chicken tacos. I hadn’t been in awhile and was SO SAD today when I went only to realize they have changed their menu 😭 My favorite tacos are no more. I tried the new chicken tacos instead …. the chicken was so dry and the toppings were too excessive. I miss the simplicity of their original tacos. And they charge for chips and salsa now 🙄 Plus the new menu format is weird, requiring you to turn the menu multiple directions to see the items. Safe to say I won’t be back ever again; I’ll always have the memories.

Red Mesa is usually a favored stop for our family but not Friday. Service was…weird?? Server was running the floor solo but walked away mid-order. Queso used to be on point and this time was reminiscent of a jar of Tostidos. Shrimp enchiladas were ok, but not what they usually are. I don’t know that we will return after the service we received and the downgrade of food quality.
