A+ Dinner. We visit Traverse City a couple times a year and this was our first visit to Stella. The atmosphere is very cool in the lower level of the commons. The food was delicious, the housemade bread and burrata were simply amazing. Our server Shelby was fantastic and her recommendations were on point too! Will definitely be back on our next trip to TC!

The food is A+ but what sets this place apart is the service. Anna had experience, confidence, customer service, and personality!After our appetizer, she got the idea of what we wanted and ordered for us most of the remainder of our meal. Not only did she enjoy it, she was excellent and thought of all the details to make the dinner perfect!We ended up getting a bottle of wine, the octopus, the chefs plate, fingerling potatoes, celery salad, and foie gras. Excellent! We will definitely be back next time we’re in Traverse City.

This place was a bit disappointing. We wanted to eat something light and have some drinks after eating all day. We had to make reservations via an app that made us put in our credit card as we would be charged $25 per person if we did not show up. The only open reservation was 9pm which is confusing because they close at 9pm. Our server was pretentious. She dismissed us after we told her that we weren’t going to eat any of the main dishes. She said to us “so you’re just here for pizza? Most people come here for the experience…” Her attitude and tone were not appreciated. Well we certainly got some kind of experience that we will not be participating in ever again.

If you want the full dining experience this place is probably great. If you’re ending your night here with some light food and drinks as we wanted to, I’d probably avoid it. The food we had was good, but our server was very rude after we discussed our intentions to wind down the night. We got some pizza and a beer and she more or less tried to shame us for wasting the experience. Other wait staff was kind and prompt, but our server cancelled out their good intentions. We would not go back with so many other choices in the area.

Walking into the restaurant was an experience to really kick off the night. Well the ambience and lighting really invite you into a warm, cozy space for a meal. My fiancé and I started off with the red pizza, it was a nice crispy flatbread with well, seasoned Italian sausage and pepperoni and the night the pizza sauce was so fresh tasting, and the color was beautiful. My fiancé had the chicken saltimbocca for his meal which was beyond divine. And I had the maltagliati dish with kind of a Bolognese a sauce, the pasta noodles are fresh made every day. We finished off with tiramisu for dessert and I have to say it was absolutely out of this world. I really enjoyed going to this restaurant. We will absolutely make the journey up to Traverse city for this restaurant alone in the summer!!

Wow! I don't know how to rate it because we didn't stay to eat. The menu was kind of limited to a special kind of food. Lots of unique listings. We've eaten here before and the food has been fantastic. But what kind of turned off was a woman bartender. She was heavy set with short hair and was very loud and not very friendly. I asked about gluten-free options and she wasn't very pleasant and her answer was that there was a gluten-free pasta but it couldn't be made with most of their dishes. This isn't a very reliable review because she might have just been having a bad night. We're going to go back and try it again.

I haven’t even left the restaurant yet as I write thisTonight, our top-notch server—Amalia— told us about the veal chop special (tomahawk style). The description was too good to not get.When I tell you it’s the best steak I’ve ever had, it is no exaggeration. For 12 years I haven’t been able to replicate the experience I had at a high end steakhouse— until tonight. This meal was an experience that felt like pure ecstasy.Each element of the plate, from the freshness of the jalapeños, to the spice of the broccoli florets, creamy perfection of the risotto, the stacked flavor in the marsala and finally the perfectly medium rare, crusted chop could have been their own headliner.All together, a symphony of flavor. Again I don’t write this lightly, this surpassed an experience I’ve been searching to even match.I could write a separate review for the short rib my girlfriend ordered as well. But in short— tender, flavorful but not overpowering, incredible.Thank you Amalia for the wonderful service. You’re accommodating, sweet, and extremely professional—, and withstanding my raving about this dish. WowDietary restrictions: Very accommodating to my severe sesame and tree nut allergy
