“wow, today was my first time here and it was so good! i’d been curious about this place for awhile and finally came here with my BF. the bowls are very customizable, and if you don’t know exactly what to get, there is a few options of specific bowls with pre decided ingredients. it was $37 for me and my bf, which is a little pricy, but the serving was enough for two meals so it was worth it. honestly i wouldn’t mind if there was a smaller option especially since this type of food doesn’t last very long! i’ll definitely be coming back, but ill make sure to have an empty stomach beforehand,“

“Very standard vegetarian bowl. Disappointing size for $16. It's exactly what you expect, nothing more and nothing less. The worker was efficient. Definitely more of a take out place but I could imagine it's busier around lunch time.

“The reviews are a bit harsh but if you look through them they mostly complain about delivery orders. The food was decent just avoid any fish that doesn’t look super fresh. Flavors were good. If I was driving by I would go again but I wouldn’t go out if me way“

“I’ve been to the old location in the area about 6-7 years ago then would visit the one in Birmingham before it closed. I was concerned about the new negative reviews but decided to give it a try since it’s been so long, and I was not disappointed. Either the owner addressed the protein portion issue so many complain about or it’s just very subjective and was not a problem for me at all. What I appreciate about Kaku is the lightness of the meal, how with a few fresh ingredients and very balanced sauce flavors, he achieves a lovely poke that tastes authentic. The interior could use some touches of coziness but otherwise, this was never a never a place to sit and chat for hours and is not decorated for that so one should have the right level of expectation. The only thing I truly missed is hot tea.“
