Our waiter Ben, was the cherry on top of a wonderful experience we all had the fried chicken with two sides I highly recommend collard greens if you've never had them before or if you have, these are the best, even reheated. I know cuz I just ate my leftovers. 10 ⭐
Thank you

We love the place but there’s one bartender there with pink hair that can’t handle the job. She’s painfully slow and spends most of her time trying to figure out the computer. Nice person, just not cut out for bartending and makes us not wanna come back. Can’t get a drink so what’s the point.

Stopped here for lunch for the first time. The inside decor is industrial look. They have a nice lunch special where you can pick two for $15.00, one salad and one sandwich. I chose the tacos and fried tomato salad. The two tacos had 2 corn tortillas, smoked brisket, pepper jack cheese, chopped onion, and cilantro. Everything tasted great. You can also choose from the regular menu. The menu reminded me of menus I just saw this past fall in Alabama, such as Shrimp with Grits, Pimento cheese appetizer, etouffee and fried chicken. Plus they have drink choices with Bourbon in it. But still many sandwiches, pizzas, salads and other entrees to choose from. When in the area I will definitely be back. For parking there are meter parking spaces outside the restaurant. I parked across the street in the dirt parking lot by the train depot.

The steak was great, the seasonal veggies were very good, and the mashed potatoes were so good!
The Bananas Foster dessert is 10/10, if you haven't had it, get it.

The people at Thompson & Co really care about the community and the people they are hosting. The kindest people ever and just really thoughtful service. Our server, Rachel, was incredibly kind and looked out for us.

Went for happy hour, but also got 2 sides. Brussel sprouts were $5 and like none other; i almost ordered another while eating the first! Grits were creamy and cheesy (reminiscent of mac & cheese) & collard greens were delicious. Other ppl got the hh sliders and they looked gourmet. Can’t wait to go back. We all loved the food; I’m Gluten Free—celiac.

A warning: My meal gave me food poisoning. I checked other reviews and noticed that more than one said that they also got food poisoning from this restaurant. Eat here at your own risk.
I visited Thompson & Co. with high hopes—drawn in by their promise of hearty Southern‑inspired cuisine and a warm, “authentic” dining experience. Unfortunately, my visit left me quite disappointed.
What didn’t work:
The food felt like it was reaching for Southern comfort, but missed the mark. Several dishes lacked the depth or seasoning I expected; they didn’t live up to the character the menu claimed.
The ambiance and styling seemed at odds with the menu’s claims. The décor, lighting and overall feel were polished, but it didn’t blend well with the “country cooking” or “comfort food” narrative—they felt disjointed rather than cohesive.
For a place that emphasizes authenticity and home‑style cooking, the experience left me questioning how genuine it all felt. It came off more like a trend‑driven concept than a grounded one.
Given the price point, I expected more: stronger flavors, more consistent dishes, and an atmosphere that truly matched the branding.
What did go right:
The restaurant space is attractive and well‑designed; it has potential.
Service was acceptable and the front‑of‑house staff tried to be welcoming.
Overall:
If I were to sum it up—Thompson & Co. has good bones but falls short in pulling everything together. The disconnect between menu promises and the actual experience was too strong to ignore. I’d say it deserves 2 stars for effort, but unless they refine their food and align ambiance and concept more tightly, I wouldn’t recommend this as a go‑to.
