It was just okay. I didn’t really think the food was exceptional for the price. We ordered the Rockefeller oyster and it had this weird, stale taste that all 3 of us didn’t like. Also the duck was overly sweet and not well balanced at all. The steak was cook to the right temp but there wasn’t anything exceptional to it and fries were overly salty. I’m just comparing this to other higher end restaurant I had have in the past and I can say this was my least favorite. We also order the scallop, folie gras, pasta, and the steak frites which brought our total to $270 plus we tip 20% on top for good service. I wouldn’t come back because the food was just okay and I expected a lot more for similar place to this price range. Our favorite dish was the folie gras.

Small but delightful restaurant in Bayport, MN. Wonderfully prepared food, very nice cocktails, and an impressive wine selection. The staff was super friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. We dine there celebrating my daughter’s birthday and we all had a fantastic time. We will definitely come back.

My husband and I went here for a date night. We got the Chef’s Counter. It was a 5 course meal with dishes that aren’t on the regular menu. Every dish was amazing and the portions were big. We left full! We also did the wine pairings which were great! The chef, Mike, and Sous Chef were so knowledgeable about all of the dishes and wine pairings. They even talked to us about all the dishes and how the wine compliments them. We had a great time and recommend this to everyone. We will definitely be back!!

Our group of four was really excited to dine here based on some of the reviews. In the end we were disappointed in some of the dishes, the service, and the value. At this price point you expect top notch dishes and service with good atmosphere. While some of the dishes were good they were not great. Other parts were just a letdown to say the least. Two people in our group ordered steak and they were both overdone. The spaetzle with my pork chop was cold and bland. The plating of the food also left something to be desired. Drinks were good as was the wine. A little bait and switch on the "Fries and Champagne" appetizer. You get a glass of Cava with fries, no Champagne. I guess "Fries and Cava" doesn't sound good (not to mention Cava is less costly). Desserts were OK but not great. Service was spotty. After we received the bill our server was nowhere to be found. We had to ask someone behind the counter for a box for our leftover dessert. When we got up to leave we were the last people in this very small restaurant. Probably half a dozen employees looked at us leave. No one said a word. Not one "thank you for coming", etc. All in all it was quite a letdown considering the final big bill. My 3 star rating takes into account the price point. Food might be 4 star at a lower price but at these prices it's no higher than 3 stars (i.e some good, some not so good). Sadly, we likely won't be back or be recommending to others. Lots of other nearby options out there with better food and service at a lower price point.

First, the food was delicious and the outside seating was very pleasant. The staff was very knowledgeable. I ordered salmon and it was at best 1.5 to 2 ounces of fish. It was a smaller in length than the size of a credit card, and it was triangular in shape was it was tiny. I wish I had taken a photo. My husband was shocked at the small portion of my salmon. The plate was full of sauce but the salmon was very diminutive . While it was delicious, it was unacceptable small. The price was $38 for this. I woke up in my hotel room hungry. I also had a beet salad. I thought the beets would be fresh and roasted but the texture of the beets were similar to what you would get from a jar. My husband ordered pork and it was a generous size and delicious. The cooking technique and use of herbs were outstanding.

Manger holds a special place for my wife and I as it is "Our Place" We are newly married and it has been host to many of our special occasions, from one of our first dates, to where we ate the night I proposed, our final special dinner with family before we moved to Virginia in Spring of 2023, and even a dinner date on the patio with our new puppy Finn.The food has always been wonderful and the atmosphere is perfect, intimate and quaint. But what we had fallen in love with is the staff and the service. We've always felt welcomed and invited, almost like a welcome home every time we come in the door. While many places have great food that level of interest and care to make our night there something special, even if it was a quick mid week meal because we didn't feel like cooking that night.In November of 2023 (yes, like I said LONG overdue) my wife and I were traveling back to Minnesota around the time of my wife's birthday. I made a reservation as I knew we would love going to "our place" to celebrate her birthday. I also gave a call just to confirm and let them know how much Manger had meant to us and had been a part of many special occasion in our new life together. They were super thrilled that we were traveling back to MN and wanted to make sure to come visit the restaurant to celebrate the birthday. From the moment we arrived the entire staff was over the top and knew of our various experiences there and truly went ABOVE and BEYOND to make our night and my wife's birthday super memorable. We got VIP service and that care and attention that we've always received was on full display that night. It is an experience we still talk about today, and will always remember.Thank you again everyone at Manger, please keep making great food that delights and offering that intimate experience that makes each patron feel a part of your family.
