“We eat here all the time! I’ve had both the Philly Cheeseburger and Philly Cheesesteak, the onion and pepper portions are generous and the food is really tasty. I was surprised to see so many poor reviews, as we’ve eaten here many times and each time it was a great experience. Give them a try next time you’re at MOA! They have two locations.“
“Being from the East coast and working in the Philly area, I have always said that Philly Cheesesteak's here in Minnesota don't taste right..... until I went to Tono's in Saint Paul. I reminded me of home so much that I bring my family from an hour away to enjoy the food.“
“I enjoy trying deli sandwiches in different states and countries when I can. I was excited to try the sandwiches here, that is until I got my meal. I got the Newyorkino as it was something new to try. The taste was not bad but wasn't anything spectacular. The main problem is that this sandwich cost $12 to be the size that it was. It was the size of a regular sandwich made with sliced bread. Damn I feel duped for this. I also got a salad to complement the sandwich and I am disappointed with both size and flavor. Here, I opted for a blue cheese salad with candies pecans and apples. The dressing of comes with is extremely shower. You can get a full meal for the same price. I suggest skip the sandwich unless you can afford it.“
“Great place for late-night eats, and a fix of NY-style Pizza on the U of M campus. My usual is the 2-slice pizza with a fountain drink. The Philly Cheesesteaks are alright and they do offer cheese whiz, but I prefer the pizzas more. Do note that restrooms close at 11 pm and do not open anytime after that, so plan accordingly before you eat here.“
“This is the only Southdale food court restaurant with staying power. I remember going to Great Steak 20 years ago in the old food court on the top floor. I always got the King Potato. The original Great Steak is now my go to menu item. I'm not saying it's the best cheesesteak in the world, and I've never been to Philly. It does, however, always hit the spot. I've never had bad service or bad food. The ambiance has changed from my mall rat days when it was up by Zumiez and PacSun, but I don't go to the mall for the ambiance anymore. Don't forget to ask for malt vinegar for your fries or potato.“
“Get there early, as in before noon, if you want the full selection offered. They sell out of items. I arrived after 3 pm and settled for their version of a Cuban, originally interested in the beef bbq. Happily it was awesome. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. I will be going back soon.“
“Superb staff. Outstanding service. Truly relentless in their delivery of satisfyingly high quality fast food. Totally worth the price. Some great options, too. If you can't find something you like here, that's your loss. This is 100% enjoyment in a box. Truly, my only genuine negative point of critique is the atmosphere within the food court on floor three at the Mall of America (overwhelmingly noisy, echoey and insanely busy), which is hardly the fault of Great Steak. A solid five-stars, simply because everything outside of the location is excellent. And even that is subjective. There's something about a day at the mall that makes this kind of experience feel like a genuine treat, even with all the craziness going on all around you. And this is certainly a more than welcome, worthy detour.“
