Irma's Kitchen Reviews
I honestly don’t even think Irma’s Kitchen at Cragun's Resort was officially open yet when I walked in, but they still welcomed me in and served me anyway.
To be completely honest, I was expecting average “up north resort bar food.”
Then the menu arrived.
Steak tartare. A wedge salad with local blue cheese. Thoughtful cocktails. Suddenly I realized this kitchen was aiming at something completely different.

absolutely delicious food, excellent service, and the whole atmosphere/view vibe is fantastic!
We, a group of 6, made a reservation on Saturday night. We arrived, on time, and were told, “I don’t know if we can get you in; we had a group come in, unexpected.” We did get a table, but no server. We ordered at the bar. We had appetizers, which were good. We wanted to order more food, and another round of drinks. At this point, still no server. So, we asked a young man, if he was a server. Irma's Kitchen is a lakeside restaurant that offers a pleasant dining experience with a beautiful view of the lake. The Walleye dinner is highly recommended, featuring perfectly cooked fish, local wild rice, and expertly prepared vegetables, reflecting the skill of the experienced chef. The restaurant provides both indoor and outdoor seating options, allowing guests to enjoy the scenery comfortably.
Recent reviews indicate that the food quality has improved, and the menu now includes much-needed vegetarian options that are missing in the lake country. The outdoor seating overlooking the lake is often praised as very enjoyable. The service has also received positive comments, with guests noting warm and welcoming greetings from staff and prompt seating upon reservation. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes, including many that are gluten free, which is a significant draw for some visitors.
However, some concerns have been raised about food consistency and value. For example, the Wagyu Ribeye, although well-cooked and tasty, was noted to have less marbling than a standard steak and was considered overpriced for a ribeye that did not meet expectations. Additionally, there have been mixed experiences with the fish dishes, with some overcooked walleye in the past, and issues with the gluten free options, especially in the children's menu. The mashed potatoes and French fries have also been mentioned as not always served at the right temperature or guaranteed gluten free.
Despite these service and food consistency challenges, the overall experience remains positive, with many guests appreciating the generous and delicious meals, friendly staff, and scenic location. With continued attention to service speed and food quality, Irma's Kitchen has the potential to become a more exceptional dining spot, leveraging its beautiful lakeside setting.
