Columbia Heights location is wonderful! Best pupusas ever. The slaw mix and red sauce goes perfectly with them. Always hot and well made💕
Sooooooo good! Can’t wait to Oder again!
I got the queso pupusa and birria tacos both we the bomb.
The churros were awesome too.
Don Goyo is the closest restaurant to my home, and also happens to be delicious! This time I got the deluxe burrito with tinga de pollo, and it was nicely spicy. We also ordered a trio of pupusas. My husband ate the birria pupusa, but I tried the cheese and the bean ones which were just amazing. Melty cheese and a nice blend of flavors. We do pickup orders, but the dining space looks comfortable and cozy and the staff members are always friendly and welcoming.

Don Goyo Restaurant in Columbia Heights is a popular Salvadorian and Mexican eatery that offers a wide range of dishes at reasonable prices, featuring large servings. The restaurant continues to be well-known for its pupusas, which come in various flavors like birria, chincharron, cheese, and loroco. The birria pupusas are meaty with a crispy exterior, while the loroco pupusa has a unique taste from a climbing vine native to El Salvador. Customers enjoy the birria tacos, which come with good consomme, though some feel they could be saltier. Other favorites include the chicken mole and chicken tinga, with the latter being known for its spiciness.
Guests frequently commend the professional and fast service, even during busy times. The cozy atmosphere makes it a comfortable dining spot. The chips served are not overly greasy or salty, and the menu includes options for those mindful of salt intake. The horchata is a popular drink, though the large size can be extremely big. Recent reviews highlight the outstanding food, particularly the carne asada tacos, and praise the breakfast menu. Many customers consider it the best spot for authentic Mexican and Salvadorian food in the area, recommending the chips and salsa with tacos, which are cooked and seasoned perfectly with warm tortillas. While there have been minor issues with change at the cashier, the overall experience remains positive. Additionally, the restaurant has a good reputation for catering, with generous portions that have delighted customers during special events. Overall, Don Goyo Restaurant is a great choice for delicious and authentic Salvadorian and Mexican food at reasonable prices.
