Been here many times as we live close by. I recommend this place. Great for families, tons of options, and good food. I did deduct a star, as there was a weird kitchen service charge that I didn’t even notice until I got home.

Awesome place, wonderful atmosphere, but a little dark for us older people to read the menu. The menu had so many great looking choices it was hard to choose. We started with some awesome Poutine with pulled pork and my wife had an incredible grilled cheese with fig jam. She shared a bite and it was delicious. I had a Korean bbq sandwich and it was very good. The slaw on the sandwich was delicious, the bbq was good, but not great. Onion rings were delicious, hand breaded and thick but not overly thick. The house made root beer was amazing.

The food was great. Service great. Atmosphere great. However when I got the bill, there was a "kitchen service fee" tacked on to the bill. That wasn't included in the menu price I chose. I didn't agree to any additional fees. Isn't it implied that all restaurants cook their food in a "kitchen"? Wouldn't that just be factored into the menu price? Where was my option for the food that didn't involve the "kitchen"?
This really is sad. I thought I found a great place and was going to revisit at a later time. I just can't agree to a place that adds mystery charges without my consent. It's changing the terms of the agreement.
Fortunately I was able to resolve the issue by subtracting that amount from the tip. That's unfortunate for the waitress who otherwise did a good job. If she's upset she can see about getting her remaining amount from the "kitchen" it would seem.

First time in Duluth, and first time here at Fitger's. Ordered myself the triple jam cider along with the PBJ burger. Both were phenomenal, and I definitely recommend coming here, whether you're visiting or live here. The cider has great flavor and a sweet aftertaste. The burger has some decent kick to it and the jam on the burger plays very well with it. The atmosphere is nice and cozy.

The food was very good, especially the Clam Chowder, it was Excellent!! The Service was wonderful!! And… We were so grateful that you have a comfortable temperature setting in your restaurant, most area restaurants ac settings are unbearably cold!

The beer was great and the food was really good but I had to deduct 1 star for the mandatory 5% fee. I hate this practice and will avoid Fitger's in the future because of it. It's great that you want to pay your staff a better wage but include the expense in your menu prices just like any other business expense. There's no reason to be sneaky with a 5% surcharge.
ETA: If your goal is transparency then include all of your expenses in the menu prices. There's nothing more transparent than that.
